Great Job!:cool1::cheer2:

Good work!!!! It truely doesn't matter what you get on the table anything is better for you than takeout, and cheaper too!:thumbsup2

Thanks :goodvibes . This thread gives me such inspiration. Tonight was much of the same I woke up this morning with a sore throat and stuffy nose so instead of resorting to ordering out I got some chicken paprikash we had in the frezzer out and warmed it up. it was so nice to have some comfort food. I am going to do a cooking day soon and freeze a bunch of meals for nights just like this.

Menu for the rest of this week..

Wednesday: Pork Medallions, Cooked Carrots, Pan Fried Potato

Thursday: Hamburgers and Salad

Friday: Tofu parm

Saturday: Beef, Mashed Potato/Carrot, Gravy, Cucumber and Celery with dip

Sunday: Dinner at my parents

Bumping for motivation! :goodvibes

I'm making better choices these days! Having some meal staples around at all times--even if they're nothing fancy or ultra healthy--is such a lifesaver.
The kids had sports until late tonight, we were all famished afterward, and I *almost* caved and got takeout--but instead I remembered we had stuff at home to make club sandwiches with tomato soup, so we went home and had that on the table and ready to eat in 15 minutes. Everyone enjoyed it and we probably saved at least $20. :woohoo:

Great Job!!!1:cool1:

here is my menu for the rest of the week

Wednesday-Grilled cheese and soup
Thursday-Spaghetti and sauce
Friday- Pizza! and a movie
Saturday-Mac and cheese
Sunday-Pancakes!

We are on day 11/30 of not eating out! :cool1:

Blew it again last night. Went out to eat.
Honestly, I know it will get better, but it still bugs me. We are in the process of moving to the USA from overseas, and the ship with all of our furniture on it keeps getting delayed by storms. So we've been living in a hotel for 7 weeks already, with 4 more ahead of us.

I have a microwave and stove top, but no oven. It's just getting old.

Ok, vent over. Meatball subs tonight, that is a start.

Oh I am so sorry for your problems with moving. That must be so hard. :grouphug: It has to be very hard to love in a hotel I can't imagine that! Keep staying positive and you will be able to do anything!:thumbsup2

Ugh this sounds like such a pain! Glad you have a plan for tonight. Do you have a crock pot? I love mine. I like to keep it simple. A few chicken breasts and a bottle of BBQ sauce turns out great. Then you just microwave some veggies and make some cous cous rice or potatoes and you're set.

Do you guys do cous cous? The near east kind literally takes 3 minutes. Makes a perfect side dish especially alongside stuff from the crockpot since that is already cooked. Just an idea for those looking for a quick side dish. I personally don't like any kind of rice or pasta in my crockpot recipes so I find myself needing a side a lot.

Yay! This thread gives me lots of inspiration too. I can't believe how much my grocery bill has gone down too. I knew the eating out bill would go down but I never thought I'd see my grocery bill go down. The planning ahead for meals is leading to a lot less waste it seems as are scheduled "leftover days"

Eleven days of not eating out! Thats awesome. I haven't had a weeknight eating out in over a month but we still eat out a bit on the weekends. Good for you!:thumbsup2 I love your nice simple meal plan. I think simple is what makes it doable sometimes!

Monday was – Hawaiian Chicken, Rice, Broccoli
Tuesday was – leftovers (and none for me, I had some dental work done)
Wednesday – Pork tenderloin, Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli
Thursday – Spaghetti (no meat), Green Beans, Salad
Friday – Cobb Sandwiches, Carrots & Grapes
Saturday – Spinach & Mushroom Quiche, Salad
Sunday – Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Peas

I have been all messed up this week, mostly because DD and DH have been sick and I've been attending to home repairs at our cabin out of state. I haven't planned anything for the rest of the week and I'm just not at all motivated today.

Last night I came home rather late with no plans, and not too much food in the house. Hubby wanted me to go out and get some to go from somewhere, but instead I ran to walmart down the road and bought one of their refrigerated pizzas. It wasn't great, but at $7.48 better than take out, sort of.

I think that the rest of the week I am going to keep it super simple: breakfast for dinner, some kind of sandwiches, fish sticks/fries.

I'm just not in the mood to cook.:rolleyes1

Good for you! No, refrigerated pizza may not be the best dinner in the world but it keeps you in the "no take out" zone! It's an attitude I think :) Sandwiches and fish sticks qualify as dinner. Healthier and much cheaper than grabbing McDonalds or Subway :yay:

We decided this month that we will stop going out because we want to eat healthier. We didn't eat bad before but it is always better to eat at home. We spend about $200 in groceries for 2 of us for 2 weeks. We are in day 4 of not eating out we kind of blew it on saturday night.

Today
Burgundy Pork Tenderloin with carrot rice and a salad

Thurs
Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken with olive and feta pasta salad

Friday
Marinated rib eye with mash potatoes and salad

Saturday
Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi with plantains

Sunday
Braised Balsamic Chicken with salad.

We will be saving about $300 a month.

Hiya,
It was double double coupon day which meant I could double up to 10 $1.00 coupons at the store and numerous things I needed were buy one get one free like tilapia and soups. I saved $65.00 in coupons today and spent around $120.00/ 4 of us including soda and pet supplies.

This is the plan for the rest of the week til my next shopping day Wednesday.
Steak and potatoes and a veggie tonight
lasagne most likely Sunday
chicken and brocolli with hosin sauce and rice stirfry
tilapia and a potato
rice balls made with chicken and a veggie sneaked in and marinara sauce
biscuit chicken pot pie
Mexican night most likely burritos and rice homemade

I have a teenage boy who loves walking tacos-indiv sized bag of fritos or doritos with taco meat (done in crockpot)and whatever toppings you have around. Shake it up and eat with a fork-YUM

We also have good luck with frozen fish fillets(not breaded). Pan sear and top with jarred salsa or different suaces like mango-they cook up quick for those after practice suppers.

Boneless ribs with a jar of BBQ sauce in the crockpot is another one my son loves. Go meat:rotfl: He's a hockey player and always hungry.

This was my menu this week:

Saturday - Broccoli & cheese soup, biscuits
Sun - Jambalaya, salad
Mon - Grilled chicken, homemade mac & cheese, green beans
Tues - Shepherd's Pie & salad
Wed - Pancakes, Breakfast Sausage, fruit salad
Thurs - Tuna noodle casserole, peas
Fri - Pizza soup, garlic bread sticks

It was the first time in as long as I can remember that I planned out the entire week based on what I had in the cupboards/freezer with a shopping list of minimal items.

Can you please share your recipe for pizza soup? I have seen people talk talk about it on other threads and it sounds good. Thanks

Just imagine what you like to eat on a pizza and adjust the ingredients accordingly...you might think of even more ingredients that would be tasty.

1 onion, chopped - cook this with a tbsp of butter first so it's not so strong onion-y

1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup of sliced green olives
1/2 can of sliced black olives
1 stick of pepperoni cut into small chunks
2 (14.5 oz) cans pureed stewed tomatoes
1 small can beef stock
1 tsp basil (I like fresh, but I'm sure dry would be good)

I throw it all in the crockpot on low for 6 hours.

Canned or frozen breadsticks - add some garlic butter.

Top the soup with shredded mozzarella cheese.

I am totally guessing at the amounts, I'm not a recipe-follower, I tend to toss everything in my crockpot.

I slacked this week in posting my menu so here goes starting with this past Sunday

Mon - Burgers and fries
Tues - Chili (from the freezer)
Wed - Turkey (from the freezer), Cranberry Relish and Stuffing
Thurs - Beef Burgundy
Fri - Poppyseed chicken and brown rice
Sat - Sausage, Baked cheese grits and biscuits with apple pie jam

thanks that sounds really good.

So last night I relented and we had Panera for dinner. I was not feeling well and my mom had a class so she stopped on her way home.

Tonight we are going to have beef stir fry
Tomorrow night the plan is dollar dogs at the ballpark
Saturday is vegetable beef soup.
