Easy to get a cab?

How easy is it to get a cab at a Disney resort? Do we need to plan in advance, or just head to the lobby when we're ready to go? Hubby and I need to pick our up daughter at the Holiday Inn Maingate next Monday evening. We're staying at the Yacht Club.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Just go to the Bell Desk. If there isn't a taxi for them to wave over, they'll get you one in a very few minutes.

Even better, just call down from your room as you are getting ready. They'll have one waiting for you.

This is a great way to get from resort to resort. We used one last year from our resort-Poly, to get to Boma at AKL for dinner. Instead of multiple buses and probably an hour trip, it took just 13 minutes and was $18 + tip. Well worth it.

At the YC there's usually 2-3 taxis already there and additional ones in the parking lot waiting to take their turn in the queue. We've never had to wait for a taxi. If that should happen it's very easy to ask bell services to call one and it'll be there quickly.

We also will take a cab from place to place when it works out better and we even rent a car. Whatever is quickest is what we do. I think if you need to be somewhere by a certain time it is good to call down and have a cab ready and waiting. We have also as other posters said just gone down to the lobby and cabs are generally there.

Never had a problem getting a cab at the resorts or the Theme Parks. Usually two or three are in line, bell services will wave one over for you. I generally find the cabs to decent and exceptionally easy to go place to place.

Thanks for the replies! Makes me feel much better about not renting a car. :)
Depending on how often you are going to cab it, a car may be cheaper. DS & I took a cab from CR to DHS for SWW. The base charge was $17.50 (or something like that). I went ahead and gave the guy a $20.

You can probably rent a car for between $20-30/day making that a more economical way to go, especially if you plan to use a cab multiple times.
