Easy Cookie Exchange Recipes

I've seen instructions like the cookie swap thing before stating that the cookies must be made from flour, but I don't always agree with that. I get lots of requests for my rum balls and orange snowballs that you make with vanilla wafer crumbs, and they are rolled, but not baked. At least they are home-made!

Would you mind sharing your rum ball and orange snowball recipes with us?? :rolleyes1 I have been dying to find a good rum ball recipe! (or any other balls too!) ;)

Even though 2 of these recipes has already been mentioned, here's my super easy snickerdoodle recipe:

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Roll in 2 TBSP sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon - or use food coloring and/or roll in sprinkles

Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes.

Hi I have a pretty easy rum ball recipe my mom used to make and my friends love it. Here it goes

2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
1 c. finely chopped walnuts
1 c. confectionaers sugar
2 T cocoa
2 T white corn syrup
1/3 c. rum, whiskey or brandy (I use a little more, but not too much or it will make it really sticky and hard to roll the balls.):drinking1

Mix well. Shape by teasponfuls into balls. Roll into confectionar sugar or dry cocoa. Makes about 50.

My mom always put them into a tight container, the longer they are in the container the more alcohol flavor you will get. They are pretty good my friends love them and I have to make them every year for them.

Thank you!!! I only have Amaretto on hand..guess I should have bought some rum in Mexico last week! :sad2:

UGH i went to a swap last night and came home with AWFUL cookies.

I read this thread last night and chuckled about the "fun sucker" and thought wow that does seem a bit much but now i have to agree.

My kids wont eat any of them. There 16 people and we were told to make 8 dozen. There was one chocolate chip but they were crumbled and smooshed. I actually felt bad about my cookies after reading this thread thinking maybe i should have vested more time. I did magic bars in 3 pans and cut in squares which is why i would consider them pretty easy. But they were still made with 2 kinds of choc. chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, butter/graham crust, sweeten cond. milk x 3 batches. Only 1 type that i got back tasted and looked good. There were two kinds of slice/bake with reindeer and christmas trees. I must say that did bug me a bit.

Oh well its another one of my live and learn lifes lessons.

I just use betty crocker peanut butter cookie mix and roll it into balls and put them in a mini muffi pan. When they are just about done I stick a reeses peanut butter minature in them and they turn out so cute. I have had neighbors ask if I have anymore left.
