Next Saturday is our neighborhood progressive dinner. I need to bring an appetizer for about 40 people. It needs to be something easy that doesn't need to stay warm. My appetizer will be served in the second rotation at 7:00 and I need to drop it off by 5:30. We are asked to not bring crockpots as there aren't enough outlets for them all to plug into. I'm really at a lose. I can't think of anything great that doesn't need to be served warm.

TIA! :thumbsup2

Cream cheese and green olives (with a little of the olive juice to make it the consistency you like. You just mix it up and stuff some celery with it and also serve with crackers. Delicious and a crowd pleaser. Good luck and have fun.

Do you want heavy or light apps?

Veggies and Fruit? Crackers, Cheese and Pepperoni?

turkey pinwheels! They aren't expensive, but do take a little bit of time to assemble.

flour torillas
thin sliced turkey from the deli
cream cheese
shredded cheddar
fresh spinach

1. spread a thin layer of cream cheese on tortilla
2. Layer turkey, then spinach, then shredded cheddar
3. roll
4. position toothpicks 1 to 2 inches apart
5. slice

They look very pretty on a platter and taste good too!!!

My mom had a holiday cocktail party and did different variations of this:

one was lox, cream cheese, red onion and capers (not so budget)
turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing

More ideas:

asparagus, goat cheese and prosciutto (or just use deli ham if on a budget)

steam asparagus for just a few minutes
spread goat cheese on the first few inches of the bottom stem
wrap meat over the cheese

they are delish!

Standard Fresh Motz and tomato:

slice of tomato
topped with a slice of fresh mozzerella
fresh basil leaf
drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil

Super easy:

Deviled eggs!

Take a block of cream cheese, put on plate, pour raspberry chipotle sauce (or something similar) over it, serve with club crackers (or whatever you like, not flavored) and that's it. It is very good, looks pretty, and so, so easy :goodvibes

Something on a skewer! Cherry tomatoes & small mozzarella ball with an olive at the tip. Drizzle with a little olive oil s&p.

I was going to suggest the same thing with fresh basil instead of olive.

Or maybe Germaphobe Veggies and Dip- carrot and celery sticks in disposable cups with a dollop of ranch or dip in the bottom.

Luv it! I won't serve dips at parties...they gross me out! I did in the past...I would put it out with a spoon and plates and people didn't use them...just dipped away! YUCK!

The disposable cup idea is great!!!!

Ohh- I can help! I have a monthly book club group - and you can only use the oven for appetizers IF you are the host. Last month - I brought spiced pecans. They were a great hit!!! And while it might be debatable of whether they are a true appetizer...they were super easy...which for me is a plus!

The recipe is HERE

Some of the reviews said to double the spices. I thought they were spicy enough with the regular amount of spices. Don't know if it made a difference - my spices were Penzy's and brand new. And - I only used pecans.

And - if you need more ideas - - I was desparate last month, and here is the thread with suggestions. I have to miss Feb's book club - due to a conflict but I am making the salmon mousse for March.

Please let us know what you made. I'm looking for a new appetizer EVERY month,

You could do small tartlets - do the shells and then you can do a couple of fillings (veg and not). Like an onion/gruyere and a ham/brie. Those are fine room temp, two bites, easy to transport, easy to make.

You could do mini blinis or latkes with a dollop of creme fraiche and smoked salmon twist on top of half.

Could do basically a tea sandwich platter, cut into the tiny size. Cucumber on brown bread, a beef and watercress, a cream cheese and salmon...

Oh you could do like, marinated mushrooms on a wee skewer with chipped parm. That'd be good and super easy.

You could make up some savoury palmiers - do like... tapenade and some nice cheese, or puree sundried tomatoes and do with parm and make palmiers. That'd be really easy too with frozen dough. Just make a LOT cause people will scarf those.

It's very weird- you put anything in a small cup and people are impressed. I've also done apple slices in caramel dip/cheese sauce and pretzel rods/hummus and pita chips.

We make this spread with bacon bits in it :).

Thanks everyone for the awesome ideas. :thumbsup2 I knew you guys could help. Now I just need to choose which one to make.

For a school event we did shrimp cocktail.

3-4 shrimp "hung" off side of clear plastic cup with dollup of cocktail sauce in cup.

Hey disny_luvr I don't have an app recipe for you but hi! I grew up in Hershey (parents were houseparents) now live in H-burg. So, well, hi neighbor lol
