Eastern vs Western

I'm beginning to consider a 2017 fall cruise. I was checking prices and destinations and if we were to go in 2016 I could take my boys out of school a couple days early for a Western Caribbean or go mid week and shoot for Eastern. Any strong opinions for one or the other. Looks like eastern has one extra day at sea which I think I would prefer. Any thoughts?

You don't mention which ship you are considering. We prefer the Western on the classic ships (Magic & Wonder) with the stop at Key West. We just like the ports on that itinerary better. That said, both itineraries are great and you really can't go wrong with either. If the extra sea day appeals to you then go for the Eastern.

I didn't even look at what ship. I was just trying to get an estimate of how much it would be, since it would still be 2 years away. I might not have a choice since I prefer the cost a fall trip, it only gives us 2 weeks.

I don't think I"d have a preference for itinerary if it was on the Fantasy. We really like the Key West/Grand Cayman/Cozumel itinerary. I'd say go with whichever itinerary most appeals to you. They are both great.

I checked and it is indeed The Fantasy. If it was 2016 we would probably do Eastern since the Western leaves on a Thursday and we would need to leave home on Wednesday. Like I said we probably have 2 years. Let's get our October Disney World vacation out of the way first :)

About which ship. I am newbie and the Eastern itinerary appeals to me more just because we have been to Cozumel and Cancun numerous times in the past. But the ship we are looking to sail on is the Magic. Is there a reason some have a preference for the Fantasy on the Eastern itinerary. We are easily entertained people who like to sleep in, sit around and read books. We don't get bored easily. Our kids will be happy having the shows, movies and kids clubs etc

Doesn't the Fantasy only sail on Saturdays and alternate between East and West? That is when the Magic isn't running the west itinerary. Otherwise it is East East East.

People like the Fantasy for the extra sea day because of mid ship detective agency, enhanced adult only areas, and the splash zones at the pools.
