Things are pretty bad here too. I can't get out my backdoor, drifts are huge, and the wind is really bad. It's coming down at two inches an hour right now and going strong. There's already 7+ inches out there and up to 24 predicted. Stay safe, all!

Winds def picked up here in last 1/2 hour or so (around 11 a.m.), which fits what they just said on TV news, that "brunt" of winds/blowing snow, etc. should be from 11-late this afternoon. Little pandas like little kids love, love, love the snow! I think they have a new toddler panda in TO, too. Snow is fun when you are little. Not so fun when you are a big person

Around 12:30 here, and winds have definitely been gusting over 40 mph, I would guesstimate, with it still snowing very heavily, so whiteout outside. Still keeping power, so fingers still crossed. Hope others still doing okay.

Over 17 inches here and the bad part of the storm has just started. The National Weather Service just upped the totals to 24-30. I need to go out and clear my front door soon so I'm not trapped in.

In other news, I did 2 rounds of shoveling. The front walk and sidewalk are all clear. I made no effort to dig out the cars. That'll have to wait until tomorrow. They aren't moving until Monday anyway.

Fortunately it's just grazing us, only 4-8" expected -but it's coming down pretty good right now. Hope everyone from NY to VA is doing well ...Stay warm and safe.

Just saw the tunnels and bridges from NYC to NJ closed down - wow - that shows we're getting punched pretty good. Saw totals from around by me, looks like around 16" so far, now they're calling for 24" - 30" total. Never ceases to amaze me how WRONG they can be, and yet how obliviously RIGHT they can act. Yes - I know Mother Nature plays into the deal and all - but from 6", now up to 30? And with YEARS of training, modern methods, computers, etc. - that's a HUGE "margin of error" in my book, sorry!!

Oh I wish I could!! Alas, it's like 20 degrees here, which I realize is practically boiling compared to what everyone is feeling, but 20 in summer isn't that warm!
It's Australia Day here in Tuesday (think "Independence Day" kinda) and it's a day for barbecues, beer, sunshine, watching the cricket (or in my case, a delayed showing of WWE Royal Rumble with 20+people at my place) it it's not forecast to be that great :-(

Again, I shouldn't complain, but it's all relative right?

Agree, that's not a nice, hot temp for your big summer day. Our weather patterns are def off this yr. Strange stuff.

Thanks, Jes. It isn't like we don't regularly get snow in these parts, but this is on the extreme end of things. Typically it's 3-4 inches, maybe 6 inches with a bad storm. Getting more than 12 inches puts this in the ranks of the worst storms on record. NYC closed all bridges and tunnels a few hours ago. That's a pretty serious move to basically cut off access to New York City just to put this in perspective.
