Eastern US Storm Watch

Ok. We're done shoveling
Yay! Time for a break. ps do you have something called a snow rake? Its a 3-piece telescoping alum pole with a lightweight snow scoop on the end. I find it priceless for cleaning out my satellite dish and clearing some snow off the roof. Really handy equipment to have. However, here's hoping you won't need to do so much snow removal for a long time to come :-)

Ok. We're done shoveling. As done as we're going to be. Both cars are cleared off and can be used. We can't get to our garage but we'll just have to live without it for a bit. And I got out on the roof to shovel off the flat section over our family room. It's not good to have all of that heavy snow up there.

I'll definitely go into the office in the morning. Whether or not the office will actually be open remains to be determined but I'll at least go do messages and paperwork for a few hours.
Bravo, Steve - great work! Now - relax for a bit, my friend! :)

Hah! This could get dangerous. The whole Board will be asking me to show up with my little cleaning bucket. Nooo! :-) ps we have time of use power in Ontario. Cheaper consumption rates for home owners on the weekends and after 7pm weekdays. So weekends are laundry, vacuuming, running dishwasher and all those power hog activities. Makes for a boring, bummer of a weekend. Also hard & $ for families with kids who have to run laundry and appliances on peak times during the week.
Could you swing by my place please? Just need a hand vacuuming and tidying up the kitchen.
Easy stuff, but better when shared

But would there be shrimp on the barbi when I showed up? :-) Just kick me hard now. I couldn't resist. ps my housekeeping skills ain't that great. pps I love the big jumbo shrimp. ppps pls don't go crazy with the innuendos. I should've been the straight man/lady in a comedy act.

If you promise never to refer to them as "shrimp" again and only call them prawns? Lol.
But yes, I'd organize some awesome prawns for you! The big jumbo kind

Jes ps I think you are much wiser than your years :-) You have a great skill & knack for diffusing what could be awkward little situations. Many kudos to you. Impressed :worship:
Oh! Haha, I just don't offend easily at all. Especially in a situation that I'm perhaps the odd one out. Can't get offended by someone who may not know any better in terms of cultural differences.
But thanks, at times I feel wiser than my years. I had to grow up quick from the age of 8, so I guess you get that added maturity or life exposure or something when that happens.
Plus, I love to learn about random things, I'm curious and try to be observant and take in all things around me.
I'm full of useless facts!

I'm at my office. No problem getting here. My route is all highway except the first 2 blocks and the last half mile. We are cancelling hours as it's just be and my medical assistant who made it in. And few patients would get here today anyway. Many walk or depend on public transit to get here. I'll stay a few hours and catch up on paperwork and then head out.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Looks like things SLOWLY getting back to normal, and some pretty good temps should help. Still quite a bit of slushy/icy/slippery spots, and lots of "snow mountains" to go over/around/through out there if you're not driving though! I always say pedestrians always have it much harder, for a much longer period of time, after a big storm - in addition to "mountains" where they've put all the snow from clearing roadways/etc., you have refreezing, then lakes from melting, etc. There are HUGE "overhangs" of snow on my complex's roofs that are falling off in pieces and sheets, which could be dangerous. Friend of mine got hit in head/back of neck with something like that from a rooftop in NYC few years ago when went in to see a show - thank God besides soreness, she was okay. Glad you made it in okay, Steve - hope everybody else okay too!

I didn't even see this thread - thank you SO Much for anyone concerned about me you guys truly make me feel like a community, and I thank you again.

I think we ended up getting about 31 inches of snow in Staten Island, and to make it better my neighbors car broke down in the middle of the block in a one way street so the plow couldn't get down the street!

We all had to band together to shovel out the street! We were all safe, just a bit slipperty.

I will say that ALL of the roads were plowed and salted - New York has the best sanitation people ever.

Glad to hear you've made it through okay. Yes - the little community we have here means a LOT to me!

Glad you pulled through! We knew you were somewhere in NYC and were concerned when you didn't pop up on the thread. But @SorcererHeidi saw you elsewhere on the Board so we all could exhale a little then :-)

Happy Australia Day, Jes. (And any other Aussie friends here). Have a great day, and ENJOY!!

Of course, it is almost 11pm in Australia so Australia Day is just about over, but I hope it was a good one.
Hehe, Your post was at 12:50am Wednesday Heidi, so an hour after Australia Day!
But thank you!! We had about 20 people over to watch the WWE Royal Rumble, had a BBQ, and also watched some Tennis, cricket and played backyard cricket.
It was a good day!

Those darn time zones are confusing. I've finally gotten the Australia one set in my head thanks to Jes.
Ok, so the way I work it out is this:
The show is on at 1pm on Tuesday right? So, if you add 4 hours, then switch day to night, or vice versa...
So 1pm US east coast time is 5am AUS east coast time.
I just take 4 off my time.
And DL time is add 5 hours and it's yesterday... Lol.
So, now, it's 6:20am, which should make it 11:20am Tuesday for LA.
