For me, it was the extra day at sea. There's just so much to do on the ship, I didn't want another touristy port.  :sunny:

Voted for the Western. Grand Cayman and Cozumel are better dive/snorkel destinations for us.

We just used Key West port as our third "at sea" day and didn't bother touring!

Agreed! I have not yet been on the Eastern...coming soon.... None of the Shore excursions are jumping out at me.

At the end of the day, it just doesnt matter. If you like sea days I would actually go western and stay on the ship during a port day. It's great being on board when the ship is almost empty. Our kids dragged us back to the ship after half a day at castaway cay because they wanted to swim in the pools without the crowds.

As to the ports, each has its own charm and unique activities, but at the end of the day, you'll go to a beach or do some sort of snorkel trip, or spend a few hours in tourist shops. For the limited time you're at each port, you'll find something interesting to do at each. We were busy at each port, but none of them are "thank god i didnt miss this".

We choose Eastern, because our childern are young, 4 & 6 & thought Key West would not be for them.

The extra sea day was great now that we have done it, so that will be a big factor in deciding next time.

I like the eastern for the extra sea day, St. Thomas (St. John), and no stop at Cozumel, which doesn't do a heck of a lot for me. That said, I've done the western twice and have it booked again for next fall. The worst part of the western for me isn't Key West, which is fine, but getting up for a port day on the first day of the cruise after having flown across the country (or formerly, across the Atlantic) on Friday, adjusted to the time change, and gone through the initial excitement of the first day. Having a sea day on Sunday is just so much more relaxing for me.

My vote went to the Eastern - I really enjoyed the two consecutive days at sea! But I was outvoted by DH and DD for this year - they both preferred the Western although I don't really know why!

Who told them we live in a democracy?!?!?
