My DH and I fell in love with DCL on our HM. We did the 4 night on the Wonder, as it was our very first cruise and we wanted to test the waters, so to speak....

We are planning to go on a 7 night in October 2004, but we can't decide which to take the Western or the Eastern. The Western is about $200 cheaper, which is no big deal either way, but has anyone done both? I hear sketchy things about St. Thomas, but I am still undecided!

We want to book ASAP, so any help, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

I have done both and I prefer the Eastern. I can go to Cozumel and Grand Cayman on RCCL for a 5 nite cruise for 2 people for less then $700 or less total. I can't do St. Thomas and St. Martin for that. I happen to love Magen's Bay on St. Thomas. I was not that thrilled with Cozumel's beaches. If you're interested in ancient ruins and snorkling western may be better, but I'm a shopper (St. Martins)and a float on a raft with a pina colada (St. Thomas)type of person so I will be doing the eastern cruise again in the fall.

Just got back from our Western in February. My vote is Western. DH votes Eastern because of the extra sea day. I hated Key West but didn't really do anything that day. I loved Grand Cayman - we snorkeled and swam with the stingrays. I loved Cozumel even better. I loved the beach - We went to Mr. Sanchos. You're welcome to check out my site at www.shabbyfam.us. We have photos on the links to our Eastern and Western.

IMHO: shopping is better on the Eastern, beaches are prettier on the Eastern but snorkeling was better on Western. Both trips showed me beautiful water, interesting landmarks and different cultures. You definately have to check out both but a decision is hard to make. We will be booking another Western 2/2005.

I LOVE your photos and web site! You guys sound so fun! :bounce: My DH made me keep going to the page where the ships horn blows...he loves it! We are looking foward to to taking our now non-existant kids (we are trying though;) ) on their first Disney cruises, and making a family tradition for it!

Thanks for your advice....I think we may just flip a coin, mainly because my DH wants the Eastern and I want the Western....(I think....)

Just done both cruises! 1st Feb to Western and 8th Feb to Eastern. Without doubt the Eastern is far prettier. The Western was fun to do, especially Key West, but Grand Cayman was dull, unless you went on the Singray Swim Tour. Cozumel was bustling, but didnt like being hassled by shop staff. We loved the whole of our 2 weeks on board, but we also like the days at sea and wonderful scenery: The Eastern certainly was our favourite.
