we are traveling on the 3/20/04 7 night cruise. Our group consists of 4 different families with kids ranging from 3-8 (8 adults and 8 kids). Are there any excursions you might recommend. Also we would like to keep costs down. Any feedback is appreciated.

This is my family's 3rd Disney Cruise and everyone else's 1st.

::yes::

jmcarol,

Wecome to the cruise. We have a March 20 thread on the cruise meets board. Come join us!

Sorry, can't help you with your excursion question as this is our first cruise also. There is a lot of discussion on excursions here, though. You might want to try the search function, as I remember some threads on this very topic along the way.

Only 36 days to go!

I took my Mom (74) and son (7) on excursions on both St. Thomas and St. Marten last year.

On St. Marten, we took the Island Tour that included was called the "Sea and See" - got to see both capitals (French and Dutch) on the island plus the underwater marine life. Very nice (a/c bus ride - no bathrooms til towards the end of the trip though!), and very relaxing for both ages.

On St. Thomas, we opted to take the Island tour of St. John - very relaxing and enjoyable.

Bring your own snacks and bottled water for both (there are areas to purchase but for my companions, I was glad to have brought my own).

Hope this helps.

On St marten, we did the Butterfly Farm/island tour. We went by bus, stopping to take pictures at an overlook to the open market in Marigot where we shopped for a little bit, finding tropical shirts for my DH and DD for tropical dinner. Then we went to the butterfly farm which my DD (age 9) loved--we had never been to one before. I wish that we had been able to spend more time at the farm, but it was an enjoyable excursion, and not too pricey.

On St. Thomas, DD and I grabbed a taxi to Coki beach and Coral World. I think the kids in your group would love this aquarium, then we went to the beach which had very gentle waves, white sand and tons of little fish swimming around. The taxi was $7 per person each way (with a group like yours you can probably negotiate this lower); I paid $23 for Coral World for one adult and one child (look for coupons online, or in tourist magazine to reduce this cost), admission allowed us to come and go to use their bathrooms, and fresh showers. I rented one lounge chair for $5.
