Update on cancer...

I just went to the doctor for my post surgery follow-up.
Good news :)
The doctor said I am healing fine.:thumbsup2
She also gave me a once over, and said there is nothing more to biopsy right now. I have one more check up before the trip.
The visit was concluded with one must do, and one highly recommended for the cruise.

The must do is...I have to be covered with spf clothing from head to toe anytime I am on deck or on shore :beach:
So...I have some shopping to do. Any suggestions on good places to find spf clothes.

The highly suggested is...To get a spray tan. It will not provide any protection from the sun, but as she explained will have a aesthetic advantage. Beings that I will be covered from head to toe, I will remain a milky white. So, if I want to have a normal healthy glow, she thinks the spray tan may be the answer. Basically my choices are a glowing white vampire complexion ( even with my freckles) or a temporary sun kissed faked tan.

Any thoughts:confused:

Goood news, Tink - congratulations!!!!
When it comes to SPF clothing I can highly recommend Columbia. Their stuff is comfortable to wear, not that expensive and it really provides great protection. We hiked the Grand Canyon (Rim to river and back), Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park and similar places with a lot of sunshine wearing that stuff and never experienced any sunburn.
Many outlet malls have Columbia stores, where that stuff is available at great prices.

My husband, daughter and myself are so excited about our cruise! Have had it planned since last September but just now finding this group forum. So fun! Looking forward too all the good advice and I we want to be included in this Fish Extender stuff! We love crafting and what better way to get ready for such an exciting trip than crafting!

So glad to hear everything is turning out for the better. Unfortunately my Mom lost her battle to cancer last month. So anytime I hear someone beat this horrible disease it makes me smile. Have fun shopping for the new clothes. I never knew there was SPF clothes. I should see if they make them for kids.

Go Astos!!!!!!!

You have to do Texas day with us.....we are wearing our Texas shirts one day.

By the way, have you ever looked up "Texas Mickey". We were looking for special shirts for one of our theme days, and decided to look for a Texas Mickey shirt.
Give it a look and let me know what you find out about Canada.

Of course they are available for kids, too!!! You only have to be a aware that the SPF fades with washing - not right away, but after some time. Not really a problem with kids' clothes as they quickly grow out of them ;)
There are even special additives available that you put in your washer to refresh the SPF.
As stated before you can get those clothes at Columbia stores, but Under Armour, Nike, etc carry them, too.

I just got a PM from Monami7.
I had missed pulling her from the list when they canceled their cruise.
So, here is a correction to the latest FE.

I have found a picture of Minnie Mouse holding a Texas flag. If anyone is good at making them that could be a possiblity. I will also look at the tshirt shop at dtd and see if there is a way to make one there.

I was thinking more along the lines of our 2 families....beings that we both hail from the great state of Texas.

Lucklily, I am the picture person in this group (all the pics on the group page were mine). If you get me the pic, plus any other ideas (plus I can share some of mine with you), I am sure we can come up with something worthy of the lone star state.

:yay:Attention everyone planning on taking part in the wine meet...:yay:

We were heading to our local winery this weekend for a special get away and to find out about shipping a bottle out to Florida for the wine meet.

It was brought to our attention that shipping (or transporting) wine across state lines is a tricky thing.

There are different laws for every state....:sad2:
Here is a link to a web site to explain all the cans and can nots.....

http://www.winespectator.com/webfeature/show/id/Shipping-Laws-State-by-State_1049

You may want to take a look if you are planning on bring a bottle.

At this point, the only way we will be able to participate is if we drive. :drive:

Florida has some of the most stringent laws. Since you will be bringing the wine into Florida, make sure you read there laws also.

As I mentioned earlier on this thread we brought German schnaps for the Sail-Away-Parties of all four Cruisetoberfests. Of course we listed the schnaps on our customs declaration form and it never caused any problems.
I think we passed customs in Philadelphia, in Cincinnati and Charlotte with the booze. I don't know whether we broke a law by taking it on the connecting flight to Orlando, but obviously the customs officers didn't give it a second thought as they simply waved us through.
And honestly: we didn't give it a second thought either :lmao: Here in Europe we have a much more relaxed attitude towards alcohol. We can bring alcohol across any border inside the European Union. Legal drinking age here in Germany is 16 for beer, wine and champagne, and 18 for liquor.
You can buy booze in every supermarket, at gas station, etc and you can even get a beer at McDonald's. Unfortunately beer is often cheaper than soft drinks, which makes alcohol more attractive.
Carding is handled too lax over here. Salespersons and waiting stuff are supposed to card everyone who looks too young, but they often simply 'forget' it for the sake of profit or to avoid confrontations. It makes it definitely too easy for kids to their hands on alcohol.
I guess sooner or later our laws will become a bit more restrictive - hopefully.

Here's a little birthday song for your special day :rolleyes1

Happy Birthday to you...:bday:
Happy Birthday to you...party:
Happy Birthday to Nile...:rockband:
Happy Birthday to YOU!!!:cake:

P.S. How was spring training???
