Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls!

We are on a 7 Day Eastern in January. We are looking for a beach that is easy to get to visit for a while. What do you suggest? We are looking forward to your suggestions!

Any other must do's on the Eastern?

Which island are you talking about, St. Martin, Thomas or John???

Which island? Family? Other activities planned?

On St. Thomas, we like Coki beach. It is next to Coral World, which is an excellent excursion for children. It is easy to do on your own, and much cheaper this way than thru DCL. When you get off the ship, go to the tourist info booth. They will have discount coupon books that include one for Coral World. Enjoy the place--underwater viewing area, aquarium, hiking trails, gift shop, snack bar. Coki beach is across a parking lot--free, nice, family friendly beach. Take towels from the ship if you go. Taxis are easy to get both places.

St. Maartin--remember that Orient beach is "swimsuit optional." It might not be a place you'd want to explain to your kids. There is a nice beach near the tender area that is family friendly.

If you are talking St. Maarten and you are traveling with kids the Maho beach is great. It is at the airport and the planes land right over you as you bask in the sun and they also take off about 100 ft away from you. The beach is a little small but not many people are using it and the water is usually very calm. We spent a week at the Maho in December and my 4 daughters 12, 10, 8, & 5 justed loved it. P.S. The bigger planes all come in around 2-3 p.m.

Thanks everybody! Great suggestions. It will only be 2 adults so kids activities are not a must. We just want to be able to enjoy the beautiful ocean for a little while.

Looking forward to other suggestions...

At St. Martin, we went to Dawn Beach. We caught a taxi right at the port. We arranged for them to pick us up at a specific time. Pretty good snorkeling and it was beautiful.

The taxi was $42 roundtrip for 3. Make sure if you arrange for the pick up to remind them exactly where you want to be dropped off. Ours took us to downtown when we wanted to go back to the ship. It was suppose to be $36 so I think that is why it was a little more.

Does anyone have any experiences with Magens Bay at St Thomas? We are an all adult group and we want a nice beach where you can rent chairs and they have a bar and snackbar.
We are also looking for the same set up in St Martin. We do not care about snorkeling, etc., we just want sand, sun, water and a drink in our hands! LOL!
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We just got back yesterday from the Eastern cruise. We took the Orient Beach excursion on St. Maarten. It was beautiful.

It is clothing optional, but "clothing optional people" stayed at the other end of the beach. Orient Beach is divided into 5 sections. The Disney Cruise excursion it on the "Wakiki" portion of the beach.

I do have a WARNING though, there was some stealing on the beach. One family had their bags stolen...including their key cards. However, the guides walked the family through the security stops back onto the ship.

We don't know how the theft happened because it seemed pretty secure as there were very few "vendors" walking up and down the beach. A couple women selling necklaces, a couple hair braiders, and a couple young men renting umbrellas.

I was wondering about theft like this. We rented an umbrella and chairs in hopes that the guys running it would "look out for our stuff". I don't know that it helped.

This is also why I kept our money, id's and KTTW cards in the floating/waterproof box with me in the water. I also use a safety pin to attach it to my suit. On our first trip at CC, when I pulled off my vest the box came off too. It was half buried in the sand when I found it.

I don't do this at CC now, because I feel pretty safe here. Since no one carries money, I wouldn't expect people to try to steal a box.

Are there cabs outside of the Coral World? That seems like it would make it easy to get back to the ship without worry.:D
