Hi, We are going on our first Disney cruise next month and have been allocated rooms on the 5th floor. We have to have 2 rooms as we have 3 children ( I can't believe they only have very expensive family sized rooms on board) The rooms we have are not adjoining as we were a few points short. Is there any chance of being able to persuade them to upgrade us to adjoining rooms?? I suppose it is worth a try!

Any other comments about things to do/excursions etc welcome.

thanks

information on the cruise line forum for things to do

Any comments on staying on the 5th floor? I know it is near the kid's clubs and theatre will that make it noisy?

Unless you booked the connecting rooms already, there is not much chance of being upgraded. You can always ask, but - in all likelyhood- they will not be available.

Did you realize that you could have paid for some of your reservation using cash instead of all points?

Only Category 4 (and 1,2, 3) rooms can accommodate 5 guests.

The Cruise Board will be a great place for general information about the Disney cruises.

Bon Voyage! :)

when you check in on the cruise, you can ask if there any availblilty on a upgrade cat and pay cash for the difference, im not sure how $$ differents and you are taking a chance at last minute, but its better then nothing

What catagory did you reserve? If it is Cat 10 or lower, did you request connecting rooms when you made your reservation, and there weren't any available?? I'm not sure I understand why you would be a few points short of connecting rooms since you booked two rooms anyhow??

We recently returned from ajoining 10's on deck five and it is a great location.

Deck 5 will be a great location for you, especially since you have children travelling with you!
The adjoining rooms will be tough to get at the cruise terminal. They go pretty fast. But, it can't hurt to ask if they have any and pay the cash difference there for the upgrade.
Our very first cruise was the 7 day eastern and we travelled with family in a connecting (not adjoining) stateroom. It wasn't as bad as we thoguht it would be. Yes, it would have been better to have the door, but we remedied that for our second cruise and we got adjoining rooms. But hey, you are on a Disney Cruise! You won't be in the stateroom all that much!
Have a great time!

Actually, it just occurred to me that their shouldn't be a price increase for adjoining rooms of the same category. What category did you book? I would call member services and ask if they have any available? ALso, make sure they note the adjoining room request on your reservation so if there is one available they can move you at the port.

Thanks for the responses. The reason we did not get connecting rroms was they were more points and we did not have enough, we didn't ask how much it would be to upgrade. Never mind the rooms are next door to each other anyway so it shouldn't be to bad. 3 weeks until we go but the weather looks dismal at the moment out there hope it improves!!!

First, there is a cruise line portion of this board...great place for all your cruise Q&A! Rooms next door to each other are great. Actually, that's probably quieter than adjoining.

We loved the 5th floor. No, it is not noisy. The rooms are not near the club and lab....they are at the front and back of the ship, the kid areas are in the middle. It was a very convenient place to be with little people.

You really should check out the cruise board. Without knowing ages of kids, etc. it is hard to suggest what to do. If you go to www.castawayclub.com, there is a lot of cruise info including sample menus, navigators (activity guides), etc. We've done the Magic 9 times...and have number 10 booked. It's the all time best vacation.
