Easter week or mid-June?

Trying to plan a trip for myself & my extended family for 2010. Great nephew's school schedule won't allow us to take him out of school (he's 12 and in academically gifted classes & missing a whole week would put too much pressure on him to make the time up). Christmas week would be out of the question due to my elderly father-he doesn't want to come with us & I'm not about to leave him by himself. So it has come down to Easter week when Josh is out of school, or the second or third week of June when he gets out of school. Which one would be better crowd wise? I know Easter week would be better weather wise but I've heard nightmare stories about the crowds then. Any & all opinions & advise (especially from those of you who have been at both times) would be most welcome! TIA!:)

I've never been there for either week, so this is basically a bump with an opinion thrown in.

Easter is one short time period when many schools around the world close at the same time. Summer, on the other hand, starts in mid May and ends in September, depending on where in the country you are.

I've read so many stories about the crowds last week that I would be very hesitant to choose Easter week.

Wait till June.

We chose 3rd week in June this year over Easter for the same reason pp stated. And based on stories from last week, we are sooooo glad!

i've lived in florida for 13 years and worked at disney for all 13 of them. i've told my family every year, DO NOY COME THE TWO WEEKS AROUND EASTER. if i could leave for those two weeks and return after, i would be so happy. not only is disney packed, but florida overall. it may be warmer in june, but the crowds are sooooo much better

Agree with PP. If you hop over to the Theme Parks board and poke around, there are several threads that talk about the insane spring break crowds and multiple park closures the week before Easter. I wouldn't risk it if it were me - especially with a group of people.

I'd choose mid-June. We go in June and love it.

Easter week the crowds could be bad and the weather can go from warm to cold in a second.

At least I know it'll be hot in June. :rotfl:

We went the week of Easter in '07. It was our Spring Break, which always falls in the first full week of April. We will never go during our Spring Break again when it coincides with the holiday. We went Spring Break of '05 (without the holiday) and it was great.

"We tried the Stratagies but Disney is NOT the vacation for us! Pictures included!"

PLEASE go to the "theme park attractions and strategies" section for a thread dated May 1st, quoted above.
Someone POSTED PIX for the week you are speaking about. It is an "OMG" moment when you see the HOARDS of people also known as HUGE HUGE crowds....for me a AVOID SITUATION:eek:
I am sorry to say that I am totally inept at posting links OR learning HOW the heck to quote another thread, but if you look for that thread, I really think it will help you decide.
Unfortunately, I think that poster was not anticipating the crowds and also was looking for more "thrill" so the vacation was a Downer for her family, such a shame:sad2:

Disney is great, an amazing trip, but PLANNING is so important....at least know WHAT to expect! Good Luck in your decision and when ever you go, have a MAGICAL trip!!! :wizard:

We went Easter week this year and LOVED it. If you have a plan, take advantage of EMH and fast passes, and make ARD's everything is totally managable. June is to hot. We rode every ride many 5+ times always with under a 20 minute wait and had a GREAT time.

Easter at WDW is great. Don't be afraid of the messages you hear on this board. Way to many over react about the slightest crowd. Really the crowds were fine and we traveled with 3 kids under 6 and did great.
