We are thinking of going to WDW in either March or April. What do the parks do for Easter? Are there egg hunts, etc.? Is it worth going for Easter? Just curious...

Can you say "Spam in a can"?

Busy, busy, busy! If there is any way to go during a week other than Easter week, I'd go then. If not, just be ready for enormous crowds and have a great time!

I've been wondering this, too. Are the crowds unbearable, the waits too long. I would think the weather is wonderful.

We were just there Aug. 8th to the 14th and it was BUSY!
Is it anything like Aug.?

We went over Easter and I have to say I was so surprised at crowd levels. I expected it to be so busy and it wasn't. I actually have a picture of my kids in front of SPM and no-one is in sight. This was the Sat. before Easter. We rode SPM, BTM, POC, JC, Flying Carpets all within the first hour and a half.

The resorts do an egg hunt for the kids Easter morning.

We were there this past April (20-26) during our DS school vacation week...but Easter was in March last year. The crowds weren't too bad for most of the trip, but they had Grad Weekend that week, so MK closed early both Friday and Saturday night. Sunday, MK was PACKED! I heard they even had to close the gates at one point. We didn't get on any of the rides we wanted to do again, but we did get to see Spectromagic and Wishes, so it was a good day. We also met Mickey, so my DD was happy.

For the most part, the weather was perfect...warm, in the 80s and not humid. Saturday night was a little rainy, but not for so long that they had to cancel Illuminations, and Sunday was a bit chilly. We wore light jackets most of the day and really shivered during the evening shows.

Anyway, I would recommend April. The weather is usually good, the crowds are definitely more manageable than Christmas week or June (the other times I have been there), and there are enough parks that if one gets crowded, you can always leave and go someplace else. In the two times I have been in April, I haven't encountered terrible crowds everywhere...even the day MK was crowded this past time, Epcot was completely empty. We walked on to every ride and into the restaurant of our choice without a reservation.

Have fun planning!

Did it once before and I'll never go easter again. Its just way too busy.

Just so you know....Easter week is spring break for a lot of us on the east coast next year. We are going from the tuesday after Easter until the following tuesday - got a GREAT deal on airfare and couldn't resist. We figure it will be crowded but that's ok. April in Orlando is real nice! :)

Jill...who just got back yesterday and already has plans for the next trip!

It is crowded...I went over my college spring break which unfortunately coincided with the week after Easter spring break for many schools. One night when we tried to get into MK, it was closed due to capacity, so we had to head over to Epcot. We eventually went back to MK since it was open late, but I had never experienced a park being closed because of capacity issues before.

That being said, if you go with the mindset of not seeing everything, you'll be fine. Realize that it'll be crowded and that you won't get to see all the big stuff. But, use FastPass and you'll get to see some major things.

If you go with the mindset of it being busy, you'll be okay.

I believe after Christmas week Easter is the 2nd busiest week of the year. It's peak season at the resorts for price and at DVC for points.
They used to have an Easter parade but I don't think they do it anymore.

We were there last March the week before easter at WL/VWL (we were actually there for 10 nights). The Sat. before Easter is when the crowds began! And yes, it did get very crowded! :rotfl: We had a great time though! I just booked last week for the end of March this coming year and hopefully it won't be quiet as crowded because Easter will be mid April this year!

We went during easter last year and it was insane!!! Much busier than Aug. But we used UG's touring plan and we didn't wait very long for any attraction. That being said I would avoid Easter if at all possible. Way too crowded. JMO. :flower:

I was also there this past March, we left the day before Easter. The parks were PACKED!!! The lines were long and the walkways were extra crowded. I'd personally never do it around that time again.

I will be going the week of Easter this year. It's the first time I am going to WDW during Super Peak Season. I have done summer before but I know to expect even more crowds. I plan on following UG to the tee this time and try to be out of the parks (or at least see everything I want) by noon time.

Hopefully, I'll survive!!
