Easter this year

With two brother in laws that are preachers and our own church all having online services, we plan to watch them all. So this Easter will be much more about our faith and much less about egg hunting and candy.

Since it will just be dh and I, we will cooking steak on the grill and having baked potatoes.

Hoping to get to talk to all the grands through the day. But I have talked to them all just about everyday anyway either on the phone or through a message app for kids.

I put our Easter decor out last week . Wasn’t going to because it is just 2 of us this year instead of kids and family. Glad I did cheered me up looking at it and like my husband said what else do you have too do....lol

Will stream all the masses this Holy Week. They are even doing the rosary and stations of the cross.

Our meal we’ll be smaller but the same stuff. Bought Easter candy but have admit we ate one or 2 bunnies already watching Netflix. But we did replace them ....so all good.

Will talk to family I can’t be with. I do miss them not the same , I need some hugs.

I mailed my kids their Easter treats, as well as eggs to look for, though they won’t be too hard to locate in the boxes!

We'll stream Sunday Mass as well as many others. We probably will stream Good Friday services as well (heck, we're home - might as well!)

This will be the first time pretty much ever that I won't be with my extended family for Easter. Thanksgiving was always with my wife's family, Easter was with mine. We're going to try doing a virtual egg coloring with my siblings and parents. It's one of the traditions we always do with all our kids the Saturday before Easter, along with a egg hunt and baskets Easter morning. No plans on doing Easter baskets for our boys - they're 14 and 19 now, so they're fine without them. We ordered an Easter dinner from a local restaurant (picked up on Saturday), so we'll have a quiet dinner with the four of us that night.

We plan on ordering dinner from a local restaurant we haven’t had a chance to try yet. Last year I was in the hospital over Easter so we didn’t celebrate so I said we had to make sure we at least had a nice dinner this year.

Your feelings about spiritual matters are yours and yours alone. It is bad form to spit on others' belief systems. It's pretty unconscionable to stomp all over them in disrespect precisely when so many are relying so heavily on those beliefs to carry them through such difficult times.

We are submitting videos to help put together Easter service for our church. Besides that, we are doing a paired down dinner. No baskets (my kids are 23 and 20).

Lol my kids range from 17 - 23 and I still do baskets with candy. I’m so sad that ds21 and dd23 won’t be here for the annual Easter egg dying and outdoor hunt, first time ever. They are both sheltering in place elsewhere.

Ah you mean no ‘Christos Anesti’. That went over my head. Duh!. My poor Vicar is doing the Walk of Witness on Good Friday alone and a solo Dawn Service outside one of the Parish Churches on Easter Sunday. He is streaming it live. He is trying so hard to support the villagers. I am a bit ‘old school’ and I find him far too theatrical (and he wears jeans under his cassock ) but he is definitely earning my respect.

Do you not say ‘Christ has risen! In truth He has Risen’ on Easter Sunday? Maybe it is an Orthodox. Anglican, Catholic thing? So here we say/chant/sing ‘Christos Anesti’ and the retort is ‘Alithos Anesti’.

We originally intended on doing what we did for stockings -- everybody buy something for everybody else's basket. But then the stay at home order put the kabash on that.

American Baptists have a different tradition. It's a call and response:
One: "Christ is risen!"
Everybody else: "He is risen, indeed!"

Food- I have not decided. I think Italian beef. I’m not having anyone over that day. I’m in the country and have enough tables and space outside to let families have their own space and bring their own food, but mom is 85 and I don’t wish to shout at her. Plus my sister is sick (covid negative).

DD is sheltering in place elsewhere, I sent most of her Easter stuff to her in March. Her TP arrives tomorrow-there is none where she is, best present ever

I’d like to know what are you guys putting in your quarantine Easter baskets? I did DS basket today for entertainment.
DS 19 basket. All bought before lock down.

Fruit roll ups by the foot.
Chicken in a Biscuit crackers.
HERSHEY snap apart ( I have no idea why but I love those )
2 Gourmet suckers.
Pez for his dispenser
Easter shaped sweet tarts
white chocolate candies: 1 of each M & M, Reece’s, snickers bar, kit Kat bar, HERSHEY almond bar and white pretzels.
Normal Payday bar.
Sixlets. And a cream egg thing.

DH a York bunny, payday and a white kit kat bar. I got myself bunny sweet tarts.
