easter suggestions please

It will be crowded, so plan well and use fast pass. I'm not sure if there is anything special for Easter, but definitely get a good PS for a nice lunch.

We're also going to be going Easter Week and I'm a little apprehensive. We will be traveling with my parents, and my mom will be using a wheelchair. I'm sure we'll have fun, but I wonder how bad the crowds will be.

It is always VERY crowded at Easter, but it is doable. We're Easter veterans so if you want to see a lot of attractions in the parks these would be my suggestions..............................

--Get there early (are you staying on site?) If you are then take advantage of Early Morning Entry. The crowds really, really pick up around 10 a.m.

--Take a mid-day break. When you see the lines getting over 30 or 45 minutes long, then it's time to hit the pools. There's no sense standing in long, hot lines, when you can be relaxing at the pool.

--Utilize Fastpass as much as possible. Have one person in your party go get a FP for an attraction while you hop in line for another.

--Make a flexible touring plan for yourselves - key word is flexible. Take note of what you would like to see & the best "route" to do that but remember to be flexible about it.

--Take a look at show times when you get to the parks. You can sometimes schedule things so you can see a lot of the shows without wasting a lot of time sitting around waiting for the show time to get there.

I don't know how long you'll be there, but when we use Park Hoppers (we have AP's now) we would spend a day in the parks & then have a pool day the next day. Our park day we would get up early, take a mid-day break & then head back either around or after dinner & stay late. We would sleep the next day, have a leisurely breakfast & then head to the pool.

BTW - if you plan on water parks get there very early. These fill up extremely fast during Easter. Sometimes within the hour after they are open, especially if it's going to be a hot day.

Good luck planning. The DIS has great information for everyone! :D

thank you so much for the heads up. We will be staying at the Poly so we are on site at least. I just didn't know if they did anything Easterish...like an egg hunt or something. Maybe a special brunch. It doesn't look like it.

I would THINK that the Poly would do something special, only because the majority of the other deluxe resorts do. We have stayed at the Contemporary during Easter & they have an egg hunt, so if nothing else, you can head over there & join in the fun. A few years ago they even had Cinderella & Prince Charming there. Have fun! :)

Another thing about the water parks, is to go earlier in the week, we were there last year druing spring break season and went at opening on a Tuesday. We did everything by lunchtime, ate lunch spent some more time in the wave pool and left without hardly standing on line.

we will be in WDW this year over Easter...I have 3 kids ages 4, 5 and 9...any suggestions?:wave2:

Scrappindentist,

We went for easter in April of 03. If your kids are into Alice in Wonderland at all, there is an Alice in Wonderland tea party behind the U.K. I was told this happened only during easter, but my source could have been incorrect.

Essentially though, they children sit at tables under umbrellas and have a tea party with Alice, the Madhatter, etc. Parents are not allowed into the tea party. They stay outside a short fence to look over there children and take pictures. My daughter was 3 at the time and absolutely loved it.

I would call CRO if you are interested.

Well this was our first easter trip with the ds. It just happened to coincide with their spring break. We stayed at the Swan. Here is our observations for the week. Our kids are teens and refused to get up early. They laughed when they saw there were actually lines just to get a fast pass., this doesnt happen during our usual aug. trips. Alot of times by 11 am fast passes were either gone our had return times for like 4 - 6 pm. This time we stayed at the swan. The busses were always crowded with standing room only whenever you went somewhere. The weather is very comfortable and much more cooperative then aug. Our next trip if dh doesnt lose his job this year is last week of april. The closer to good friday it got, the more crowded it got. The Poly will have an egg hunt at the beach for resort guests up to 12 I think. Chef Mickeys has a brunch type meal that easter day. We went to easter breakfast at the beach club. Our server was grumpy having to work on a holiday. There was a good photo op with mickey and minnie in the lobby all dressed to the nines (tuxedo, dress she used to wear at hollywood and vine). We decided to spend the day at epcot. It was really uncrowded. They really advertised that tea party alot. Many characters were out for autographs. I made reservations to have easter dinner in mgm at hollywood and vine. It was really crowded there and the fantasmic pkg. was sold out. I tried to get it for weeks. No such luck. It stormed anyway so we went back to the hotel after dinner. If you want to make an ps for a special place, do it as soon as your window opens up. You wont be able to see everything with all the crowds, unless you have a good plan, use fast pass alot etc. We had a great time. Just be prepared and plan well.
