Just back from an Amazing first wdw trip - totally hooked now. Dd starts school this year so future trips will be restricted to the busy school holiday periods unfortunately. Would you say Easter so 4-18 April or summer 1 to 15 July would be best. I Am swaying to Easter as Dh struggled in the heat of last week but crowd calendars show summer as better. We are rope droppers and had FP+ working well
Any tips would be appreciated

Depends on which beast you want to take on.... the crowds in April or the heat in July. We try to beat the heat with midday pool breaks and the water parks. DH swore last year though, we would never go in the summer again...we were too hot... but I think the heat is better than 8/9/10 crowd levels. There are strategies to beat the heat... but I can't do anything about 1+ hour waits for rides/characters.

Both time frames see comparative crowd levels (8/10) so I'd opt for Easter over July simply because of the weather. An Orlando summer's heat and humidity are brutal whereas spring sees warm temps without the high humidity. Just go in prepared. Have a touring plan, RD the parks and break during the crowdest part of the day, return in evening, utilize FP+, etc.

I think you may be right rapunzels - didn't appreciate that queues would be quite that long - probably naive or maybe just hopeful

Lines will be long in both. I prefer cool long lines versus hot long lines, but thats just me. :goodvibes

I have been during both Easter and beginning 2 weeks of July. I would definitely choose Easter for the lower humidity. I did not remember crowds being different. Around the 4th of July, it was very crowded.

Well if they are rope droppers.. take mid day breaks at the pool/water park. then head back in the evening.. the heat is manageable. They would be at the parks when it is cooler..

We were just there this past Easter Break (April 12-21) and yes it was very crowded but I've been there when it was worse. We didn't do rope drop but took advantage of the extra magic hours in the evening and was able to get on many rides, sometimes getting off and on again. I was surprised to have a couple of really hot days in April (high 90's) and I hated it. When it's too hot, I just can't enjoy myself. I won't (can't) go in the summer.

We have now finalised our choice of dates - either 4 to 18 April or 28 June to 12 July and I am completely stuck on which dates to go for. Ignoring price as i think i will be able to get both for a similar price, can you helpful people let me know which you would choose - i am conscious Easter would fall at the begining of the April trip so thought crowds may dwindle as the holiday progresses whilst in June / July, the 4th is bang in the middle of the trip so i thought this period may indeed be busier than the easter trip. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you....

I would totally pick your Easter dates. Our weather was lovely when we were there this year from Easter Sunday through the following Sunday, and the crowds were pretty manageable, especially later in the trip - by the end of yours, you should be looking at pretty good ones. Your trip MAY coincide partly with Spring Break, but I'd still go in April versus any time in the summer, where there won't be any diminishing of the crowd levels at any point.
