Yes, I am already planning a trip for 2011!

This is my first time posting here, although I've been doing a lot of reading! All the information and photos are so helpful. I used to go to Disney at least once a year but haven't been in about nine. I am starting research for a planned vacation in 2011 with my husband's family. There will be 15 of us - ten adults and five kids. They're a little hard to organize - herding cats you might say. They've delegated trip planning to me - the obsessive one!

Several of the adults are teachers and consequently are a little less flexible when it comes to taking vacation time. Originally I was thinking the third week of April when we have school vacation in our area. Typically this is Regular not Peak season pricing-wise and a little less crowded than earlier in April, historically speaking.

Here comes the monkey wrench: Easter is late in 2011. :scared1: It's not until April 24 which is the third week in April. Patriots Day is also that week (April 18). My suspicion is this will mean peak crowds and peak prices. :headache: Does that sound right?

My distant second choice was to go in late August - value season prices and somewhat smaller crowds than earlier in the summer. Of course my huge stumbling block there is THE WEATHER! Heat, rain, and humidity. Oh my!

Am I missing an alternative? Will August be terrible? Should I post this somewhere else? Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Yes, if you go at Easter, it will be packed. :scared1:

Easter itself and the days surrounding it will be packed. We are both teachers and have similar circumstances. This year we just returned for a 4 day trip. Easter was 4/12 (as we know, haha) and we went 4/3-4/6. I had to take 4/3 off of work as that was a school day, but the rest was the first few days of Spring Break. There were crowds but not as bad as I had prepared myself for. We were able to get quite a bit done, and never waited in a line that was longer than 20 minutes, especially with Fastpasses. So you may want to look at options that are a little further from actual Easter, especially if your Spring Break is the week before Easter.

Thanks all. I'll have to see how flexible the teachers can be with their schedules. One actually has a different week off from the rest because he's in a different district. :headache:

But I have read trips reports from people who were there last week and have been in the summer before myself so I know you can get it done if you have a plan and don't push it - be there for rope drop, take afternoon breaks at the hotel, etc. It will be the first time for all five kids so I want it to be great!
