Easter Dessert!

Another idea for an Easter dessert. I make a chocolate cake , chocolate frosting ,around the edges I circle two rows of yellow peep chicks, in the middle I fill with chocolate chips . It looks just like a sunflower. My kids love it.

We always have a bunny shaped cake (chocolate cake w/homemade white icing and DD gets to decorate it...super easy). I am also mini key lime no-bake cheesecakes (DH's favorite). I will also make rice krispy treat bird nests w/a little bird eggs in them. Oh, and ice cream. There is ALWAYS ice cream :) I can't WAIT to get cooking :)

OOH. I may steal this dessert and use it myself. YUM!

Thx for the flashback :goodvibes! I made that cool bunny cake every year when our kiddies were little and now they do for their chidlren. :wizard:

Yep, here too. We're having pork tenderloin, ham (was split 50/50, now doing both), twice baked potatoes, green bean almondine, green jello salad (not my favorite by any means, but its a tradition in DF family. Its more of a fluff than just the jello and pineapple) deviled eggs and then rolls. There will also be some appitizers chili cheese frito corn dip, and some veggies.

Its a pretty big meal, so I thought about just doing cookies, but I heard alot of moans and groans. Plus its easter! And I want to incorporate jelly beans too (maybe just on the side?) because DF lives for them....

Thanks for all the suggestions, I truly appreciate it! :thumbsup2

We are having: Paula Deen's Cola Basted Ham, Potato Salad, Three Bean Salad, Deviled Eggs, and Rolls. I think I have decided on pineapple upside down cake. Found out last night that the boyfriend really likes pineapple. Huh... still finding new things out after 8+ years together!

Easiest, delicious spring dessert ever:

I make a lemon/raspberry combination, but you can use any flavor/fruit como you like:

Sara Lee Pound Cake defrosted (can use the family size for a larger group)
sliced in half long way. Spread bottom half with lemon frosting, top with fresh raspberries. Lay top half of cake back onto bottom, frost top and remaining cake with frosting. Top with fresh raspberries (a few) right before serving (otherwise they run if they sit too long).
That's it!

I've also used a lemon/blueberry combo, strawberry/blueberry with vanilla frosting, etc. the possibilities are endless...

My Grandpa (and my Gma used to help before she passed away) would make a lamb cake- a 3D sitting up one! Jelly beans around the base and jelly bean eyes and a nose.

Coconut cake:thumbsup2

My menu looks like this:

Spiral sliced ham with glaze
Scalloped potatoes
Candied sweet potato casserol
Pineapple stuffing
Roasted asparagus with hollendaize (sp?) sauce
Green jello mold - has green grapes and crushed pineapple in it
Jello eggs for the kids
Rolls

Coconut cake
Another dessert but not sure what yet

I knew I was making "Death By Chocolate" (has many, many names for it though) and needed something else to bring to my mom's. I totally forgot about the Pineapple Upside Down Cake (one of my faves)

Here's the recipe for Death By Chocolate:

•2 packages (4 serving size) instant chocolate fudge pudding (prepared
•according to box)
•3 full size butterfinger candy bars- chopped (can be any kind of candy bar-
•original recipe called for SKOR)
•9x13 pan of brownies- prepared according to box
•16 oz. Cool whip

Bake brownies according to package. Once they are cool, break them up into bite sized pieces. Layer 1/2 the browines into bottom of 13x9 pan, Follow with 1/2 pudding, 1/2 cool whip, and 1/2 candy. Repeat layers ending with the candy bars.

Easy Peasy!!!

We are having the traditional ham, potato salad, deviled eggs. For dessert we are having Million Dollar pie (kids favorite and easy)and cheesecake.

Million Dollar Pie is probably called a whole bunch of things but it is basically crushed pineapple, lemon juice, sweetened condensed mik and almonds and cool whip, all put in a graham cracker crust and refrigerated. I have seen it with cherries also but we omit due to an allergy. This suff is light and really really good!

I'm either making a lamb or bunny cake. :)

Cream Puffs with home made cream.

Ham
Mashed Potatoes/gravy
Asparagus
Swiss Medley Vegetables
Salad (hope my DIL offers to make it)
Corn
Rolls.

That should be enough for 7 people. Will probably make some deviled eggs and fruit because we eat early and need some supper food too.

We're Italian so pretty much everything will be Italian pastries. :)

Sweet Italian Easter Bread
Strufoli
Canoli
Ricotta Pie

And whatever else strikes my fancy at the bakery.

And my sister is bringing a surprise dessert.

Coconut Cake, it is a tradition! Put a couple of jelly beans on top, and it is delicious! :thumbsup2

That's what I am making too! It's a tradition my grandpa started and this is the first year I am making the cake! On top there is always have 4 "nests" of different colored coconut with jelly beans in each one.
