Easter Basket Done

I love putting together Easter Baskets for my children. Swimsuits make the best basket filler and it is something I would have to buy anyway so we just made it an Easter basket tradition.

I know its coming up quick and I haven't bought a thing for my 12 year old daughters basket yet- I will get her the typical chocolate bunny etc- she still has last years so that will go in the trash before this years comes LOL- she eats candy but little bits at a time and we end up throwing away last years halloween candy this year etc... Guess she will get barnes and noble gift card since she is always buying books, itunes gift card, a couple things for our Disney trip this year...don't know what else, she doesn't really ask for anything other than books and even those she just buys herself most of the time now that she is older and has her own money.

Easter is not a big gift holiday at our house. My kids are 12 and 4.

12 Year Old
- Glow in the dark basketball
- Earbuds for her iPhone

4 Year Old
- Basketball
- Game for his Leappad (I got these cheap after Christmas and have had it stashed)

Total for the toys, about $20 each.

As for candy, they each got a small chocolate bunny, will find plastic eggs filled with jelly beans and chocolate eggs, two Easter ring pops, and three Reese's eggs. That is more than enough candy. They will both forget about it in two days and it will sit there staring at me saying, "Eat me!"

DD's basket has been done for a couple of weeks but that's only because the vast majority of it came from birthday/Christmas stash leftovers.

She's getting:
- swimsuit, cover-up, hat
- Pocahontas doll & extra clothes
- Disney DVD (don't know which one yet -- we have a stash built from our DMC membership)
- Wii video game
- Book about being a big sister
- Chapstick
- More crayons
- Chocolate bunny, a couple Reese's eggs & jellybeans
- Plastic eggs filled with change and $1 bills (she LOVES putting money in her piggy bank... we put it all into her 529)

Have you read the Hunger Games book? I have and I think 9 is too young for the book.

I'd let mine read them. Dd11 (10 when she started them) loved them. Then again, I was reading Stephen King around 10, which is way more graphic than The Hunger Games (and the language much worst). I'm sure ds9 experiences much more violence playing COD with his brother.

DH and I are getting a 'combined' Easter basket from the Easter Bunny this year.... in the form of a gift bag with a bunny on the outside :rotfl:. Whatever works. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes He's even going to leave a trail of plastic eggs to find the bag. Am I married to a toddler? Sometimes. :rotfl2: Oh well, I have fun with it so whatever.

In the bag this year, we have (if I can remember everything)...

A signed copy of The Buried Life's new book
2 Organic Cotton T-shirts (for DH) and 3 Organic Cotton Tank Tops (for me)
Gluten Free Sour Cream and Onion Chips (we never ever buy these, quite a treat)
A Disney Gift Card (of course)
Larabars
Enjoy Life Boom Choco Boom bars
Justin's Almond Butter Packets
Gluten-Free pasta in the shape of things like soccer balls, flowers, etc.
Gluten-Free Mac and Cheese box
I'll add some fruit to the basket but I haven't gotten that yet

I think that's all. :goodvibes

Wow...When I was a kid our baskets consisted of plastic eggs filled with goldfish, nuts, and small candies. We were excited because the only time we got candy during the year was Halloween and Easter. I couldn't imagine making baskets this elaborate. Your kids are quite lucky.

last year easter looked like xmas at our house (grandmas, aunts and uncles had a lot to do with that)
this year the easter bunny decided to get a grip!...of course who knows what the grandmas will do (they have been warned!!!)

i spent $20 at walmart and have one more stop to make which will hopefully be under $10....
so only $15.00 for each girl!!!!
which will give each of them chocolate, an egg full of tattoos (princess for one, toy story for the other), bunny shaped sidewalk chalk, playdoh eggs, and a spring-y tshirt

oh, i guess i'd better buy 2 prizes for the easter egg hunt (real eggs)...so add another $5.00

WOW. I haven't done anything yet. We have small baskets and my kids just get small things. Christmas is big, Easter isn't in my house.

My kids baskets consist of a new basket (which is actually the metal 'bucket' from Target, can double as a trash can after Easter) filled with candy. That's it.

I went to World Market last night after work, they had some really cute folding wooden fans in silk bags and the cutest good luck cats so I grabbed a couple of each. I also had a 10% off coupon so they were a pretty awesome deal!! So I spent probably around $30 for each girl, not too bad IMO. :)

I have been struggling to complete DD's (6) basket. She earned a new bike and lost a tooth and got a Barbie so I ran out of ideas. So far:

Lady & Tramp DVD (from Movie Club - no clue if she will enjoy)
Alex Russo doll & accessories (from Dis Store gift cards that were a result of screwed up order)
Hannah Montana doll (from same gift cards)
Shake It Up cd
Scented Pencils
Glitter Baton
Chocolate bunny

I need a little more candy which will be Kit Kats and bubble gum.

I always do little pails for DH, my parents, and our dog. Simple things and candy. Haven't gotten those either. Our DD gets upset if everyone doesn't receive a little something at Easter and Christmas. :cutie:

Maybe move this to the community board. Most people come to the budget board looking for deals.:thumbsup2

Oh please, the BB is almost like the CB but with a few budget related items mixed in. Besides, her post is about the deal she got on the bikes and the total of stuff for their baskets so it more than qualifies as a BB topic. :thumbsup2

I think giving bikes for Easter is a much better idea than giving them for Christmas! (at least here in Wisconsin it would make more sense... lol)

Sounds like fun! I got DS Just Dance for the Wii... he's going to be so excited :)

I spent about $30 per basket which is 2 new Disney tshirts, small amount of candy and bath/body works for dd. I might include some new headphones if I get to 5 Below tonight. We do lower key gifting for Easter.
