Easter at HHI?

We are closing on our BRV contract any day now, and have 50 points that must be used by August. Such a problem. ;)

I am thinking about going to HHI over Easter. We have 2 boys, 5 and 11. We can get a studio Friday to Monday, but cheapest plane fare is to fly down on Wednesday and depart on Monday. ($147 round trip per ticket from Newark to Savannah -- wow!)

I was thinking about staying in Savannah for Wednesday and Thursday nights, then go to HHI early on Friday. I think we would probably also stay at a hotel near the airport on Sunday night, although the flight is at 8:45 am out of Savannah; we could leave early from HHI. Bad idea for those who have done this, or doable?

Thoughts? I know the weather could be dicey. The kids will brave the pool almost no matter what. I would love to walk on the beach, bike, and do the nature experiences. Is this too much travel for too few nights?

We have never been to HHI and are new to DVC, so I would love to hear any and all feedback.

Thanks!

We went to HHI for Easter about 5 years ago. I think it was the first year that the resort offered an Easter brunch buffet at the Beach House, and if they're still doing it, I hope it has really improved. Nothing was bad, just uninspired. But 5 years can change a lot. Busy time-trying to find a seafood restaurant on Good Friday wa especially hard. We ended up at the British Open Pub, which isn't known as a seafood restaurant (that's probably why we could get in), but they do offer some seafood. I remember that Easter afternoon, the weather was such perfect swimming weather that the pool area was packed.
