Tybee Island, Ga! It's about 10 miles outside of Savannah.

Plus, I wanted to add the water is VERY warm here in the summer, average water temp is in the 80s.

And the beach isn't all that crowded, relative to some others! We like the North Beach, they have a light house, a fort and a great grill/bar for lunch. Pretty clean, although I wish the water were a little clearer. And we have celebrities on Tybee, too. Sandra Bullock and John Mellencamp have houses there. I have heard that Oprah has a house and Johnny Depp, too. Not sure about the last two..

I'm in Savannah, too. After living in Michigan for 28 years, and SC piedmont for 20, I never thought I would live near the ocean. Now I am 20 minutes away, door to water..
