Just book the hotel with the APH discount (if there is one at the time you check for your dates...if not, do keep on checking and checking). They will tell you at checkin when they need to see the AP.
Go into the park, enjoy a day or partial day, when it's convenient go to Guest Services and upgrade. Easy.
If you purchase tickets from undercover tourist can you still upgrade to an AP while in the park?
Thanks! I think this is what we will do. Not positive on the AP yet.We did that last September with no problems.
Hello experts!
I can get a "3 Park Unlimited: 4 Day Park to Park" pass at a great price through "ticketsatwork.com". I have used tickets from here before and they have been great.
However, I'm wondering if I can upgrade this ticket for a AP at the park. I have booked the APH rate with PBH and will need to show them a AP before I check out.
In the past I just bought one Powerpass for me and tickets for the kids through ticketsatwork. However, since we are going earlier in August, the Powerpass is blocked.
Thank you for your help! Julie

Don't try to upgrade at the ticket window outside the parks. She could only give me the price I originally paid. I questioned her and she sent me to Guest Services inside the park who valued my tix at gate price.
I knew this board could answer my question! I'm trying to figure out how much it will cost to upgrade my 3-day PTP tickets to preferred APs and had been told by Universal Orlando to go to the ticket window before entering the park to find out.
You're saying I can go into one of the parks--which uses one day's entry--and then go to Guest Services, right? How do they value my existing tickets? I'm asking because mine were a gift and I have no idea how much was paid or where they were purchased. I would hate to lose any value in the exchange in case the person who bought them paid gate price originally.
Thanks for your help.

Just as a side note, there is Guest Services outside the park too. You don't have to go inside the park to reach Guest Services, although you may have to wait in a longer line if you go to Guest Services outside the park, depending on the time of day. Also, Guest Services will use the value of your ticket from the time it was purchased. If you purchased your ticket years ago when it was a cheaper price it will not be valued at the current gate price. Some discounted tickets will also not be valued at the current gate price, such as tickets you may purchase through youth group trips.
