Is this something I should do before we arrive (June 1), or wait until we check in? Also, when I get the passes, do I get the discount on the hotel room we've already paid for? Staying onsite at HRH.

Thanks in advance!

First, to check on Discounts on the Hotel, look on the Universal Website with the code APH.

Second, there seem to be some indication that using the tickets first then upgrading at customer service inside the park seems to go smoother than upgrading outside the park.

I didn't even think of upgrading in the park! Thank you!

Just book the hotel with the APH discount (if there is one at the time you check for your dates...if not, do keep on checking and checking). They will tell you at checkin when they need to see the AP.

Go into the park, enjoy a day or partial day, when it's convenient go to Guest Services and upgrade. Easy.

Hotel & tickets are already booked and paid in full. Not really expecting a discount, but it'd be nice. We didn't realize until recently that an AP would be cheaper than adding more days to a ticket, plus, we are going again next year during a time that won't be a blackout date.

Don't try to upgrade at the ticket window outside the parks. She could only give me the price I originally paid. I questioned her and she sent me to Guest Services inside the park who valued my tix at gate price.

Hello experts!

I can get a "3 Park Unlimited: 4 Day Park to Park" pass at a great price through "ticketsatwork.com". I have used tickets from here before and they have been great.

However, I'm wondering if I can upgrade this ticket for a AP at the park. I have booked the APH rate with PBH and will need to show them a AP before I check out.

In the past I just bought one Powerpass for me and tickets for the kids through ticketsatwork. However, since we are going earlier in August, the Powerpass is blocked.

Thank you for your help! Julie

The fine print:

No you cannot upgrade the 3 park ticket.

I knew this board could answer my question! I'm trying to figure out how much it will cost to upgrade my 3-day PTP tickets to preferred APs and had been told by Universal Orlando to go to the ticket window before entering the park to find out.

You're saying I can go into one of the parks--which uses one day's entry--and then go to Guest Services, right? How do they value my existing tickets? I'm asking because mine were a gift and I have no idea how much was paid or where they were purchased. I would hate to lose any value in the exchange in case the person who bought them paid gate price originally.

Thanks for your help.

guest services can determine the value when they scan it.

last time i did ticket upgrading has been a year ago for one of my sons.
used an older ticket and went from there.

i don't know if the darkside uses the present value of tickets for upgrading.

from what others have posted, it appears to be that.

Don't go to the ticket window, they'll rip you off. Use the ticket and then go to Guest Services INSIDE the park. They will give you current gate price for your ticket and you'll pay the difference in the upgrade.

Thank you, all! There's so much that isn't readily available, information-wise, and I'm happy to dig, but the digging is easier with places like this.

Like Damo said, guest services inside the park will price bridge to current gate price (its weird that ticket windows outside cannot).

I just did it in May.

Just as a side note, there is Guest Services outside the park too. You don't have to go inside the park to reach Guest Services, although you may have to wait in a longer line if you go to Guest Services outside the park, depending on the time of day. Also, Guest Services will use the value of your ticket from the time it was purchased. If you purchased your ticket years ago when it was a cheaper price it will not be valued at the current gate price. Some discounted tickets will also not be valued at the current gate price, such as tickets you may purchase through youth group trips.

People have not been having good luck with Guest Services outside the park. They have been quoting really high prices for upgrades. Then customers go to Guest Services inside and get a lower price.

Outside the park they could only offer me the price paid for the tickets. Inside, Guest Services price bridged, offering me current gate price.

It's weird that it's different.
