Ease of rent all remaining points? Help!

I am fairly new as a DVC member and I have not rented or transferred any points before... however as my wife and I are planning to move to a larger house and extend our family next year, we feel like this would be the time to rent out our points that HAVE to be used.

How easy is it to rent out all of the remaining points. I would HATE to have a handful left over that are lost especially when someone else could benefit from them so for those that have rented or transferred, help guide me through the best ways to do this.

I would like to do $10-$12 per point if at all possible. Would of course be willing to reduce the price for smaller points leftover. Also, what are Disney's restrictions on renting points or transferring points now? Can I do multiples?

thanks so much!

anything under 20 rentals a year - right now DVC does not care about those.

so you will be fine.

kept in mind that dealing with the public is dealing with the public. some of them expect you to tell them what to do, which park and rides, etc.

others know what they want, and just want a good deal on points.

most are in the middle.

some renters don't understand how DVC works - so make sure you tell them in writing if possible so they won't try to change resort a few days before they leave.

now I don't mind changing resorts - but when it gets to be the third time and they have 4 months left - it gets to a pain.

have list of references and make sure your post are over 50 (over a 100 even better) before you try to rent here.

hey you have the posts - don't think you will have any trouble at all!

does anyone have some documents (like to sign) for those I rent my points to etc.

Also... again what about the concern with several people wanting odd number of points... would it not be a problem to rent/transfer each and every remaining point or will there be a handful left?

Keep in mind that you are limited to one transfer of points per use year, per contract. If you can find someone who wants to have you transfer all the points to their account, that would be fine. You would have to agree on whether remuneration is involved, and how to handle that (since it is actually against the rules, but is done on a regular basis).

To rent these points, you will actually have to make the reservations and all arrangements, including dining plans, if applicable, for the people who rent from you. They cannot call member services and do anything with your points. Just you.

Another problem you are likely to face with renting is that it is very difficult to exactly match your available points to someone's desired vacation needs. You are limited to renting and reserving only whole days. This means your prospective tenant is limited to a reservation that uses no more points than you have. His more likely need for a reasonably good match is 10 to 30 points less than what you want to rent. If you complete the deal, you then find yourself with this "small" number of points that you may not be able to rent at all. They will expire and you will take the loss. This is not a problem if you transfer the points becuse you can require a transfer of all of them, and the transferee takes on all of the allocation and scheduling problems.

You would have to get lucky to be able to rent the exact number of points. Mostly likely you will have a few left over, which can't really be rented. You might be able to transfer those, or just bank them.

Find a close friend or family member that you think would like to use it. That's what we've done, just once.

Explain the cancellation policy. Get the $$ up front, make the reservations for them, and offer them the travel insurance. Basically I have them cover the maintenance fees, and a modest amount to cover lost interest on the initial investment.
