A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Puerto Rico early Sunday morning, the United States Geological Survey said.

The USGS placed the epicenter of the quake near the city of Moca, in the northwestern end of the island.

Officer Guidiberto Torres Valle with the Moca Police Department said some parts of the city lost power, but service was quickly restored.

The Municipal Hospital in the city of Cayey treated a woman suffering from anxiety caused by the earthquake but no other injuries.

Araceli Vega, a nurse in the hospital, told CNN that she was treating a patient when she felt the building rattle, followed by a short moment of fear and confusion.

yikes! i've got empathy for ya! earlier in the year our tiny little town felt a 5.0! this was right after the chili earthquake! it was scary!!!!! our happened around 3:50 in the morning. we had a facebook party at four casue no one wanted to go back to bed. we didn't have any damage but our next door neighbor collects snowglobes and she had a few fall and break in her room. the ironic thing was that i had to take a test on earthquakes THAT SAME DAY!

Only minimal damage. The epicenter was on the northwest side, im on the northeast. And it was felt like two big jolts of like 5 seconds each. very scary. They say this is only a preshock to an imminent 8.0 magnitude earthquake in the near future.
