Earmuffs in June? Update 7/5 Trip Report Link!

***Quick disclaimer, remember, all of these mini TR posts were written 3 years ago for my mommy message board! No bells and whistles, just literal copy and paste! :)

Day 7: Epcot. It poured and poured on this day. It was honestly miserable. Luckily, my mom stayed back and did laundry or she would have been awful with her knee. We got on Soarin (Sophie was in LOVE) and some other things. We had lunch at the Garden Grill. The food was pretty good, but the characters were AWESOME. We went back to the hotel for naps, etc. Sophie crashed out at about 6:30 and Ethan wasn't far behind. Scott, my FIL, BIL and I went back to Epcot and saw tons once the weather was clear. No pics (dead battery, and forgot to replace it).

Having and "OH...my kids are growing too fast moment!"

Looking back at those pictures, I'm realizing that Finn will be older than Ethan was this time around and that Ethan will be a year older than Sophie was! Life just flies by, doesn't it?

Time really does fly! I only have one kiddo and I can't believe she's already a year! Next thing ya know, I'll be sending her off to kindergarten!! :scared1:

BTW, Garden Grill was "ok" when I went there in 1995. But when we went in 2009 it was awesome!! Just thought you might like to know

Great pictures from the Garden Grill! Finn looks very interested in the Pluto. :goodvibes

I know what you mean about kids growing up fast. I was thinking about our next trip, when Landon will be eighteen months and walking and talking and eating human food. It's so hard to picture him as a toddler and not just a baby.

You know, "Cludo" has always been Finn's favorite character! Maybe it stems back to that first trip! Life just zips by so fast. I think memories at Disney World help it to slow down a bit.

Day 8: Magic Kingdom in the morning, Epcot in the evening. We went on the rides with the kids we didn't get to before. Sophie was chosen to participate in Woody's show. We went to an Italian Restaurant at Epcot for dinner which was spectacular (it's the newer one...can't remember the name!). Scott took the kids, and my mom, Finn and I went shopping at Epcot. We met up for Test Track (Sophie loved it) and saw illuminations. Then we headed back.

Day 9: Went swimming, packed up, and took pics of the hotel. We left at around 3 pm and stopped in Georgia at around 11 pm. It was a sad, uneventful trip home!

Cute cute pictures!! I love Disney World. I love to hear about others trips to Disney World. My DH thinks I'm bananas... he's right!

In regards to the kids growing up so fast... it's absolutely true. I've never been one of the mom's (DH isn't either) that can't wait for them to graduate, go to college, and so forth. Yes - will be so happy for them but trying to cherish every minute of their childhoods now. When we first went to WDW, they were 4, 6 and 9. This year, they will be 9, 10 and 13!! So I get what you mean about the youngest hitting the older child's age from the first trip you took. My other two will be just weeks shy of their 11th and 14th birthdays and I struggle even admitting I will soon have a true blue teenager in the house (next week)!! :scared1: She's precious though!

I can't believe how fast time flies. My son will be in in Kindergarten next fall already. I still remember so clearly the day he was born and can't believe he is even old enough to go to school. That is why when people ask while we are going to Disney yet again, I always tell them...they are only little once.

Aw! Happy early bday to her! I do admit...I look forward to the milestones, but I try REALLY hard not to wish life away. Except the month of February...for me, it's burn out time. I need Spring!:hippie:

This is so true. The time we are blessed with is so small. Let's worry about making memories!

I realized today that I never explained what my title means!!!

Sophie is a gymnast and we were traveling to a town about 3 hours away from us for a meet. We were staying in a hotel, swimming, etc. A little mini-vacation, if you will. This was right around the time I found DIS, and I was reading trip reports on my ipad on the way. Ethan is 5, and he's one of those lovely creatures who need to make a noise every second. Not MEANING to bother anyone, but totally irritating the heck out of everyone in the car. I turned and looked at him and he was "ZZZZIinging, and ZZZZZZAPing, and Pinging, and vrooming." I was about to ask him to stop and then I looked at Scott, and in exasperation, we both just started cracking up. This is who he is. He is full of energy, stubborn, slightly aggressive, smart, overly cautious, and the sweetest little boy in the world. After about 10 more minutes, I distracted him with his DS.

All I kept thinking was that I wish I had Earmuffs. SOMETHING to drown out the sound a LITTLE. Then I started thinking about how we will have 18+ hours in the car with my little bundle of energy in June on the way to Disney World. :scared1: And that's how the title came to be....Earmuffs in June. Because you better believe I'll be bringing SOMETHING to keep my sanity in the car with my precious cargo!

That's so funny!! I have one of those too!! She likes to rock her head back and forth rubbing her hair into a knot and humming at the same time!! She doesn't do it as much anymore..mostly when she is VERY tired or upset..it's like thumbsucking to her...but yeah..being stuck in the car when she was younger was a challenge!!!

I love Finn's little playsuit- A is for Alligator. Landon's already wearing 18 months clothes. I think they had the cutest boy clothes for little babies. I go in the stores now and see a cute little outfit and the biggest size is nine months.

18+ hours in the car. I actually have very fond memories of road trips as a child. I'd be all set up in the back seat with my books and toys and crayons. No DS or DVD players for us. I wonder if my parents have the same fond memories or if they remember lots of "are we there yet"s and bickering between me and my brother. :rotfl:

I can just picture it":laughing::love:

Finn was born 10 lbs 1 oz. He was HUGE. But then he lost and wouldn't gain. We had to get that expensive hypoallergenic formula and bring him for regular weigh ins. It was very odd. He eventually did starte gaining, but he dropped from well over the 100th percentile to the 10th percentile within a couple months. He's now in the 20th percentile and JUST in 2Ts at 3. Quite different from Sophie who was always 90th for height and weight and Ethan who was always just a little bit chubbier than he should be. Ethan's evened out at 50th percentile for both height and weight now.

I was always a car traveler too! My brother was much older so he didn't travel with us when i was a kid so I laid across the seat reading for our road trips. No carseats. EEEEEK! The worst was when my dad put an air mattress in the back of his pick up truck (it had a cab over it at least!) and I road to Missouri back there. AWFUL! :scared1:

I'm in! I love your mini TR, and we always wanted to do a Grand Gathering with the whole family, but we're really the only Disney people. :) Can't wait to see more of your plans!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION:

Travel Itinerary- It's safe to say this will change many times! But that's what this PTR is for. Thinking aloud. Well, thinking in type would be more accurate.

June 22: Put kids in the car at about 4am. Drive and drive until we hit the Florida border. It should take us about 12 hours. MIL and FIL will be caravaning with us.

June 23: Leave hotel by 7am. Hope to arrive in Orlando by early afternoon. Check in at Best Western (it's on property but I'm not sure WHERE) for the night. We DIDN'T do this last time and regret it. We wasted an entire 3/4 day. This time we decided that we wanted to have an entire day at the park on our first day in order to get the most of our stay. Back on track...check in at Best Western. Then we are going to take a DVC tour. JUST TO LOOK! :lmao: After the tour, we'll definitely explore DTD. We're going to get an EARLY sleep so we can be ready to go in the morning!

June 24: Disney Hollywood Studio- rope drop. MUST dos: Toy Story Mania. We want to do ToT and RRC, but will probably wait until the bigger group is with us. We have another DHS day planned later in the week. Sophie is dead set AGAINST ToT. I know she'll love it. I think her 11 and 13 year old cousins can convince her later. PLUS, let's give her some time to get into the "magic." First days can be hard. We have a 4pm ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe. Head to Port Orleans Riverside after dinner to check in, unpack, swim, explore, relax, etc. Since we aren't aiming to hit the BIG ones at DHS, we can aim to be a bit more relaxed. Hoping for an earlyish bedtime.

Up Next: June 25-June 27

Cute kids and sounds like a fun trip. We loved POR, what a pretty resort. Ear muffs would help, the car ride is long, but worth it upon arrival. The A is for alligator was in my house too, makes me sad how fast they grow!

Thanks so much! I am pretty excited about POR! Heck, I'm BEYOND excited in general!:rotfl: I'm dreaming Disney dreams nightly!:upsidedow

Hi! I just wanted to say that I am subbing to your PTR. My DH and I got married in December of '99 too (I was only 19!). Our family is planning a trip in June of this year also! Thanks for sharing your memories of your '08 trip.

Okay! I'm caught up! I like your preliminary trip ideas - the fact that you will go to DHS prior to checking in just completely alleviates waiting on a room to be ready. How fun!
