Early WB PC

Not positive, but I recall the WB PC cruises were always in very late-April or early May. In 2017 it is leaving on 4/23 and in 2018 4/8. Does anyone know why it is getting earlier and earlier and if it will continue this way? We really enjoy the PC cruises, but cannot leave on a long trip that early in April.

In 2017 they've added multiple Baja cruises before starting the Alaska cruises from Vancouver, so they have to get up their a bit earlier than in previous seasons.

Supply and demand. The West Cost Cruises (as mentioned above) are very popular and sell quickly, so adding more makes sense. That means getting the ship there earlier. My guess is that when the two new ships are finished, one will cover the West Coast/Hawaii/South & South America ports year round...with Alaska in the Summer. Which would mean no Panama Canal Cruises. They do not sell well anyways. We have watched those cruises for years...and they are always cheap and then discounted before sailing.

We booked the 2018 and many of the room categories were sold out on opening day. There are lots of 2 person couples (versus families) so overall less people (and kids) onboard but they sell very well especially among repeat cruisers and retired couples.

We were on the 2015 WBPC. I do agree, the verandahs sell quickly, but the interior and ocean views do not...and with only 2 people in a 4 person room, well, they are not making as much money as a full occupancy ship and then DCL pays ridiculous fees to transit the canal. So in my opinion, it would be a smart business plan to discontinue the PC cruises if they have a ship already on the West Coast.

I really hope you're right about year round on the west coast!
