Hi folks,

I'm a regular over on the WDW boards and a massive fan of all things Disney. Orlando is off the cards until 2014 as we're saving for our wedding next year but I'm hoping to squeeze some money out of our saving plan for a few days in DLRP. I've been a few times before but not on so tight a budget so fingers crossed we can find something we can afford! :)

Anyway my question is, what are the crowds like during the second week of Sept? I know UK schools are back and the French schools are too, but will it be full of Uni students still on holiday?

We have 2 weddings on consecutive weekends in England (8th and 15th Sept) so instead of heading back to Wales between them we want to drive to Dover and get the ferry over. I've never driven on the continent before and my partner refuses... Hope I manage ok!

We're planning to arrive Sunday evening, and leave Friday afternoon. That gives us 4 1/2 days - I'm disabled and so we need lots of time for rests and to get around.

Thanks for any insight you might have - hoping for good stories about 9th - 14th Sept!

Thanks, Dee xx

Hi there,

I too am going in September (18th to 23rd) and have honestly heard nothing but good reports about going at that time of year. I've only ever been in May, June and July so not sure what it will be like but as long as it's not too busy and its niceish weather, I'm happy :goodvibes

Where are you thinking to stay?

We went 18th till 23rd September last year had an amazing time! It was only busy on the Sunday the rest of the week was lovely! We also had warm dry weather the whole time!

We have free tickets from sky for September 20th so hope it is just as nice this year! X

I know it's a bit later but our first trip we went 28th Sept for 4 nights and it was bliss! The next trip we went and August (30th) and what a difference. Still loved it but it was waaay busier. On the trade though, the park wasn't open as long in September and we didn't get Fantillusion or Fireworks like we did end August which were amazing and worth the crowds for.

But, in my heart, I still hanker after our first sept trip as we saw so many characters without scrums, got to go on everything as many times as we liked. Had great weather, apart from one day where it rained (but was warm enough for just a rainmac over top of clothes).

Oh, how I'd love to go back in September when the schools have gone back (not possible as both DDs will be at school this Sept).

So, in summary, I'm sure you will have a great time and good weather. In addition, it appears the park might be open a bit longer with evening show due to 20th celebrations :-)

Ive booked to go for 23rd sept I cant wait!!!! Hope its as good as you guys are saying :goodvibes

@tinks_1989 - how funny that you were there the exact same dates last year as i'm going this year! I'm hoping for warm and dry weather. It makes such a difference :goodvibes

Any tips for going that time of year? We might see you there! (although you don't know what I look like, I'm sure I would recognise you from your trip report photos from last years trip (which I read the other weekend) your daughter is GORGEOUS! :lovestruc

When does the summer crowd tend to slacken? I was considering earlier in the month, probably week commencing Sept 3rd.

French schools are due back on the 4th of Sep but seeing as the 5th is a Wednesday and there's no school on Wednesday for the infants and juniors lot's of them will be going back on the 6th.

The UK I think go back same time as France maybe the weekend before :confused3 someone can confirm

Where we are in Kent teachers will go back on Tue 4th and the children on Wed 5th or Thur 6th.:goodvibes

So the assumption is that people will be preparing to go back to school that week rather than going to DLP? The 40% sale is really enticing but the airfare from Boston would have to drop significantly, otherwise I'll go to WDW. I guess we'll see what happens.

Please don't make that assumption - we did that on our second trip (beginning 30th August as I mentioned earlier), the French kids were meant to go back 1 & 2 days or so after and it was still packed - lots of Italians & Spanish families too. It was busy until our last day really and still wasn't that quiet. Huge difference to our first trip which was end September!

If you could, I'd go for the second week of Sept as you originally planned :).
