!!!! Early Roll Call for January 21 2006 Eastern Magic Cruise !!!!

We were on the Eastern cruise the same week last year and the weather was perfect.

80's in St. Maartin and St. Thomas, and Mid to Upper 70's at Castaway Cay. Orlando was in the 70's (we were there for 3 days prior to the cruise and didn't fly back until night at the end). The week before we went down was in the 80's, but the week after we got back was down to the 60's for highs.

Swimming was fine at all locations. CC, however, took a while to get used to the water temp, but it was swimmable. I just found that we couldn't run right in like in St. Thomas or St. Maartin.

By the first full day on the boat, the weather was beautiful. The sun was out and the temps were more than warm enough to be at the pools in you swim suit. Then again, if we get mid-50's here in WI in March, I put on shorts. The body is so used to the freezing cold temps by then that 30's feel like a heat wave.

I got to thinking today that counting today's cruise departure, there are just 8 groups ahead of us. That isn't many, my fellow DIS'rs! I can start to feel the anticipation and with Christmas ahead, time is going to fly by!!!

Just ordered gift baskets from Rebecca at the Perfect Gift!!!
Can't wait, now I just have to keep it a secret from everyone!!!

Hello! We just booked today. :cool1: :cool1: Can we join the group? :earsboy: We're a family of four...DD is 16 and DS is 3. DD, especially, would like to email with some DIS kids before the cruise.

Can't believe that in less than two months we'll all be onboard the Magic!!!

Lisa

Welcome aboard, Lisa!!! Check out post #563 for all of the kids on the cruise. Jeff did a wonderful job compiling this list. Again...WELCOME!!

Send me a PM if your daughter is interested.

Hi Lisa - We have quiet a few kids on the list thus far - the list is helpful. I'm finally recognizing names now. Hope I can put the disboards names together with everyone's real names! My DD is 7, DS will be just 5 and DS will be just 3 at cruise time.

Does anyone know about disboards bracelets? I saw a trip report where someone mentioned them - I think they're lime green. That would be a fun way of recognizing each other.

Lisa

You will see how exciting preparing for a cruise can be..especially with being able to post on the boards.

I think the braclets sound neat. I hope somebody knows something about them.

Are we there yet..?????????????? :earboy2:

Thanks for the welcomes! :earsgirl: And for the list...it is GREAT! :flower:

I'll try to read the old posts over the next few days so that I can get to "know" you all! As I said in my first post, we're a family of four. We live in Florida, but we're from Michigan. We just got back from Thanksgiving up there...the COLD weather reminded me why we moved! :teeth: Our daughter was born up there, but our son is a Florida kid...he was in shock!

This will be our sixth Disney cruise (we've also cruised on Mariner of the Seas!) We LOVE DCL...there really is something "magical" about the cruises. Even our 16 year old prefers Disney to RCCL. We just can't wait to get back onboard! :dancer:

Anyway, thanks for the welcomes! We'll all be sailing soon.

Lisa, I have been keeping track of your thread on the main DCL board on the bracelets. I looked up the reminderband website and I think this is quite doable.

What do others think?

I think that would be fun. The shirts are great too but at least with the bracelets you can wear them all the time. And the kids will get into them too! There are 3 sizes and they would cost $1 each plus shipping. They have a neon green color that you can't miss! We can do 25 letters including spaces and the emboss them -looks just like the Live Strong version.

I'd be glad to organize it.

Lisa M (since there are a couple of us it appears!)

We'd be interested in the wristbands as well. I wonder if we could arrange to send the money to whoever organizes it but pick them up on the ship when we get there (leave at desk in envelope or something). We are in Canada so cost of shipping would be higher but more of a concern is the timing, with the Christmas rush coming up for mail delivery and shipping parcels.

I think the wristbands are better as you can wear them all the time, even in the pools.

Getting very excited about the trip...good thing to have Christmas as a distraction.

:earsgirl:

We would be interested too. I like the idea of picking them up at the port, then there is just one shipping charge. Can't wait to hear what everyone decides. I started working on my door signs yesterday, wish me luck as I am terrible with all this creative computer stuff :badpc:

Another idea is the paint chips from Home Depot. I was at Home Depot today and saw them. I didn't realize they were in the shape of Mickey Mouse!! Someone mentioned that everyone made buttons out of them. So that is another option.

Both ideas sound good to me though.

We are actually using the paint chips for our door decorations.
Now if I could just figure out how to use this photo editing program
I'd be all set......... :badpc:

The wristbands sound like a great idea. On our 2001 Magic cruise our DIS group did lime green ribbons. We met several DISers in the terminal before we ever boarded. In fact, my daughter (who was 11) and I tried to guess who was who before we approached them! It was fun to already "know" our fellow cruisers! :sunny: And she still emails one girl from the group who lives 1000 miles away!
