Just a question. We are staying one night at All-star sports. We are then booked for CSR for 8 nights. Would I have a better shot at my building and room request choice by checking in early, or later?

What check-in time would give me my best chance to get my room and building choice?

Thanks pirate:

The earlier you check in the better chance you have of getting your requests. Even if the room is not ready they will pre-assign it to your reservation and issue you the ID cards and everything you will need. If you wait later in the day, the rooms are already being issued to people who checked in (pre-regestired) ahead of you.

I don't think that is necessarily the case. Most rooms are assigned several days in advance.

Actually that is not true... As a 10 year CM (5 in resorts) I can assure you that in general the only things pre-assigned are for medical needs and reservations that have more than one room... everything else is a first come first serve. They do not pre-assign for simple requests anymore.

Funship, I sent you a Private Message, let me know if I can help.

Maybe you can guide us also. Arriving 1/2/06 & we have asked to be assigned a room near our friends. Both of us have asked for the same area in CBR. DH & I will be in Florida first & arriving around 9:30 AM to pre-register. If everything goes as planned, our friends plane arrives around the 9:30 AM & they are coming via ME to CBR. Any suggestions to help us get rooms near each other? Especially concerned because flying in January certainly can result in delayed arrivals. We both have prepaid packages.
Any suggestions / help is greatly appreciated.

You should have nothing to worry about the attendance does a HUGE nose dive January 1... Everyone checks out and it becomes a ghost town on property. Anyway, If you are arriving at 9:30am and you go to pre-register mention it again that you are traveling with another party and you want to make sure the rooms are near each other. They can't check in the reservation for your friends until they arrive (unless you friends call ahead and have them add a comment to allow you to check them in), but they can assign a room (if one is not already assigned).

That's what I figure - checking in early to get better chance at room requests.

We're driving down almost straight from Ohio. We plan to stop about 2 hours north of Orlando and sleep. Then next morning, make a casual drive into WDW and check into WL around 10:00 AM.

Hope this way the kids can get the bunk beds they want in WL :)

We've checked in at all different times, from very early until very late. Except on our last trip, we've been upgraded every time -- even when we checked-in after 1 am in July. At that time, the CM said that our room had been pre-assigned. Last week at ASMu, we checked in fairly early (around 10 am); and, while our room looked out onto a courtyard instead of a parking lot, it was as far from the main building as you could possibly get! While the weekend was busy (F&W), the resort was practically empty for our first couple of days. This was a very last minute trip for us. We booked the room just a few days before our trip. Thus, I would have to assume that rooms were pre-assigned.

I was also told by the IPO staff at both the Poly and YC/BC that rooms were pre-assigned. It only gets changed if you make a stink about your original room.

CDSTapisRouge thanks so much for your guidance. Makes me feel alot better.

Not to hijack but it seems that question was answered so...

I requested Toy Story in ASMo. So am I right in understanding that the advanced request didn't rellay help? It sounds like CDSTapisRouge is saying that the request will only be adressed when I physicaly arrive.

I got your PM... check there for the "in depth answer"... But in general you are correct, until you physically arrive at check in they generally do not block basic requests unless you are traveling with another party or have medical needs.

Thank you CDSTapisRouge for explaining that to me. It's not good news but it's important that we understand how the system works. I'm not hung up on a certain building,

Yeah, I have stayed at POP Century twice before, and we always check in early. A worker at the front desk told us that rooms are asigned either that morning or the night before, so yeah. But we get there early and we can check in without any delay.

Jumping in with a question.

We've requested connecting rooms since we have five kids. I had also put down a building request at ASMo's so does that mean that we will be pre-assigned. We are trying to book the earliest flight out to check in early to get a good building on the third floor but is it necessary than? Or will we already have our rooms assigned since it's a connecting room? I don't want to haul the kids out of bed at three in the morning to make it to the airport for an early arrival if it's not going to make a difference.

Reese, if you have requested connecting rooms they will be pre-assigned for connecting or close. Multi room reservations are pre-assigned so that you are not stuck a million miles apart if you check in late...
