I have been planning two days at MK, one being a date that I just found out has Early Morning Magic. This is also the date I had planned to do Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. We can't get FP+ to 7DMT so we were planning to rope drop it.

Would it be a better plan to switch my dates and do Fantasyland/Tomorrowland and rope drop 7DMT on the date without Early Morning Magic? Or will it make much of a difference?

don't change, that's a very limited event with a couple hundred tickets. you won't even notice them and many will break for their breakfast as the crowds get larger.

I agree, you can't even really tell it's happening, the breakfast people will be eating when rope drop happens because they have already rode it a bunch of times.

No need to change. You won't even notice its happening. It will feel like Rope Drop as usual.

Just back and can tell you that on both MK days, one with rope drop and one with EMH (one hour), we walked right on to everything first hour or more, although not 7dmt bc we had a later FP for that. The gate area was very busy at 8:00 and Main St was fairly busy, but we headed for Pirate, Haunted Mansion, Pooh etc. and there was no one there. The key is to be at the gate early, whatever your entry time. Security time can build quickly and they allow entry before the stated time.
