The Early Morning Magic Hours tickets are non-refundable after purchase, correct?

What if a family was to invest in these tickets before their trip and then it were to seriously rain/storm that morning, that might be a very disappointing purchase.

Now I know that Disney can't control Mother Nature, but man, that would suck. I know on our trip last year, on our last day, our Epcot day, it came a real monsoon all day long. It was awful.

As with anything in life, you take your chances.
I know. It's just a thought. I think they should have a refundable option on them though. Would that make sense? Would that work?

The non-refundable option on them is one of the main reasons I'd not purchase in advance. There are others but that is the main one
Most all other events at Disney are refundable up to a day or 2 before.

With regular park tickets at least you could have the choice to go another day

Technically, other special ticketed events aren't refundable either. There is no reason to treat this ticketed event differently.

This was my first thought, unfortunately you take the risk when buying these kind of tickets. We attended a MNSSHP last year and two hours into us being there it started to rain heavily, we pegged it down to poor luck. It does suck that you pay good money for these events with a possibility the weather might have a negative impact on your plans.

(As a side note back in 2011 we were due to have a Magic Kingdom/Wedding photo shoot at 6am one morning and it rained so bad it got cancelled for that particular day)

I have it booked and it shows I can cancel it, just like a dining reservation. There is conflicting info on whether or not you can cancel.

Interesting. The description clearly says no refunds. But it sure won't be the first time the website was wrong

Some special event tickets are refundable. I know Club Villain is
Pretty sure Harambe Nights was but can't remember for sure.

What happens if one or more of the rides is down? I could see people looking for refunds. It's not like a whole day ticket, most likely it would be back up. But you have a short window for the early morning.

I suspect they'd offer a FP for riding later in the day, if and when the ride reopens. Or maybe they'll open It's A Small World as a substitute.

As for weather, I can only see refunds offered if for some reason it makes it impossible to open the parks early that day.

Just an aside on Disney's cancellation policy: We booked a horseback riding excursion at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds during our last trip. Early in the week we realized it may rain on our FW day, but we didn't want to cancel just in case the weather held out. The night before our ride, it was very obvious the ride would be rained out and we made plans for another day at Universal. HOWEVER, since we were past the 24 hrs cancellation window if *I* had called to cancel we would have been charged $40. The next morning, ONE HOUR before our appointment time to ride I received a phone call letting me know the ride was cancelled due to rain and we would not be charged. So as long as cancelling is *Disney's* idea, there's no penalty. Otherwise, you will be parting with some money, one way or another.

My guess is that if 1 of the rides is down, they'll just open up another ride and the CMs from the ride that was down would cover the other ride. IASW anyone? Mad Tea Party? Dumbo & Barnstormer are a slight distance away and may be too far. Seems with the rides they plan to have open they are trying to keep folks within a small area of FantasyLand.

I don't see them opening another ride if a ride goes down for tech issues, unless they knew well in advance. Takes a little more to open a ride then flip a switch. Best option I see for Disney if it is tech issue is to offer a FP for the ride later in the day. If it is because of a storm have a feeling you will just be out of luck. Me I'll just go down Main St singing the Mickey Mouse Club song again..............yes I do that in the rain............they got my money I am going to enjoy myself one way or another.

Several years ago, we had tickets for MNSSHP--it poured rain a few hours after the party began with no end in sight--as we were leaving the park, castmembers were handing out free no experation tickets for a day at any other park!! Of course that was YEARS ago--I doubt that it would happen again, but you never can tell!!!

When I read the information when booking it indicated you had to cancel within one day like any other dining. Clearly 7DMT is the draw for this event, if that is down I would definitely push for a refund. They are advertising the 3 rides being available for this morning.

As far as other events, such as MNSSHP, you take your chances. We had this booked for 10 of us last October and the day was a complete rain out. Most of the group managed to stay for the first parade, which didn't include the headless horseman due to weather, and then gave up before the fireworks. I would not expect compensation for this, there is plenty open and they did have the fireworks.

Our last Epcot day, it rained almost all day. We were one of the few that got to do Test trak that day I think.
One thing that disappointed me was missing all the bands that do outdoor shows around the WS such as the Japanese drummers and the British Revolution band. NONE of the things listed in the daily Times Guide went off at all although they did do Illuminations for the few that could make it all day in the rain. Why not have the bands do shows in the empty Wonders of Life building or empty Odysssey building when it rains like that? The cost would be very minimal.
