My family is thinking about going to universal orlando June 1- June 7, 2010. I was wondering what the crowds are like at this time. does anyone have pics of crowds around this time of the year?

We are going then too. I heard its Gay Days at that time.
Not sure how that effects crowds.
We are hoping lots of kids are still in school and not at the parks!

I hope so too. I get out of school May 25 but we were trying to wait till after Memorial Day to go. i sure hope it is not that crowded because heat and crowds don't do me well.
You heard correctly, I just did a quick googling and it appears to be June 1-7. (seems odd to start on a Tuesday). My family was considering going that week too but wondering if this will bring even more than normal crowds...
I have the same question posted on the Universal theme parks board...for once both of our kids get out of school by 5/28, practically unheard of for Illinois. We were SO excited to be 2 weeks ahead of the floodgates of crowds...booking USO 1st week of June and WDW week 2, hitting our first Star Wras weekend! I saw a calendar of events for Gay Days that involve WDW, and at the Doubletree (Host Hotel) so since the DT is right there I am guessing a lot of guests will hit USO as well, but no real calendar listed. I guess we will just wing it...have a plan for crowds and if it is less crowded than we thought, count our blessings. I have to tell you, I think it is going to be jammed. If I were taking part of the 20th anniversary of Gay Days, and had SW weekend AND WWOHP opening? With Ellen DeGeneres taping her show there Memorial Day weekend? I'd be all over it! if you can stay onsite to take advantage of Express pass or FOTL whatever they are calling it now..I would do it for at least a night or 2.
This all depends on the opening date of Harry Potter. All indicators point to it being open by the 1st of June and if that is the case it will be insane. Of course not insane enough to stop us. We're headed there towards the end of June

I have been reading other posts about this. Most of them that I have found say that the crowds during this time are much smaller then the normal summer crowds. My mom and I are going together. We are hoping to ride lots of rides during our time there.

That has been true. We have gone first or second week of June for 5 years now (since kids can no longer miss school) and find it to be quite pleasant crowd wise. I do use the crowd calender on Touring Plans for best park days. Gay days usually is 1 park per day and I believe a schedule of some sort is announced. Even so, they do not tend to influence the size of the crowds all that much.
That being said, I believe Harry Potter will cause insane crowds at US/IOA. But we will be there, with FOTL pass by staying onsite for a couple nights. I think if you plan to see WWOHP, it will be a much more pleasant experience with FOTL pass and 1 hour early admission into IOA. Perks you can get by only staying onsite.
