Early Entrance Procedures?

We are going to Universal/Islands of Adventure on 9/2/19. Universal Studios has the 8 am early entrance for hotel guests. We are not on property for this visit. We want to rope drop Islands of adventure. What time should we be there for a 9 AM start? Will they let us through the turnstiles before 9 AM? How early would you recommend arriving? For this visit we only have one day and will be hitting highlights from both parks. I have read that entrance procedures vary at Universal. Any help appreciated.

I'd plan to be at the turnstile by 8:30-8:40- aka already parked, through security, tickets in hand. They'll corral people until opening time after the ticket turnstile.

Which means you might want to be turning into getting into line for parking / giving them your money @ 8 (for 8:40), or 7:50 (for 8:30), since you have to wait for the cars in front of you, then pay, then drive through the parking garage, get to your spot and park, walk over to security, go through the herd of people to security, then walk through City Walk to IoA.
