Disney Kool-aid? How'd I miss that!
Do they sell it in a sparkly Mickey-eared cup? I'll take a dozen!

I usually drink 50% watered down juice but I'll cast all caution to the wind for a cruise. ::MinnieMo

I sent a box to the ship last year. It was delivered to our room before we even arrived. I packed goodie bags for the girls and a few other things I could fit in the box. I will be doing the same thing this week (hopefully I can get the box together)!

:cheer2: Okay....here it is! :cheer2: Boy, there sure were a lot of changes!:crazy2: Welcome to all of our newbies (wish you could have joined us earlier but sure glad to have you join us!) Please try to email me by Wed. night to add the last changes (some people are leaving on Friday so it would be nice for them to print out the current list)! Be sure to check room numbers (I searched through 42 pages and still have a lot of missing info!) and who's sailing with you!

WOW....what a crew. There is going to be a sea of green on Deck 10. This is going to be soooooo awesome!!

Poor guy, your in-laws sound like real Disney ****s! Tee hee, I won't tell you dear mom in law your dark jaded secret. I will however expect my dbil to spend a good number of evenings drinking with his loopy looney Disney loving Sister in law

Thank you for keeping my secret, angilovesmousse. My dsil is a lovely person (though you wouldn't know it from what my dw says!).

I am playing golf on St Thomas, already booked. Not sure how they break into foursomes; either on the ship or at the course. it's $164 for the round and from the web site the golf course looks fantastic. I am not bringing my clubs, so club rental is $20. If he goes remember to order sandwiches from room service the night before and put them in ziploc baggies while out on the course. Probably about a 7 hour excursion. thx Jim:thumbsup2

Aaaaah, we're leaving in 45 hours! I'll probably be signing off this thread tomorrow at 11:30 am PST as that's when I'm leaving work to go PACK! Our flight leaves at 6 am, so we need to be up by 2:45. Crazy!

Anyway, we will be wearing green ribbon bracelets, and since I don't have any door decorations, we'll tie green ribbons to our door handle for easy spotting.

If anything new is decided, I hope its in the next 27 hours so I can be in the loop.

I think we have too much luggage and we haven't even finished packing. Looks like a med. suitcase just for shoes (there are 5 of us after all), a garment suitcase for the suits, shirts, and formal clothes of the boys, a suitcase for the 3 boys, 1 for me and dh, and then one just for snacks and food for WDW.

Total 5 + 2 or 3 carryons. The suitcases are all 24 inch except for the garment bag and the food suitcase (just a small carry-on size).

Does that sound outrageous? I'm worried its not going to be enough when we actually put the things in as we haven't allowed for all the liquid type stuff we have to pack in checked.

I hate the last 3 days before a trip. I get so overwhelmed I can't even do anything.

Sigh. I just want to be on the plane.

Hi Everyone,

Brendan and Katie had some great email pen pals on the March cruise and are anxious to meet some new friends on this one. If anyone has kids similar ages, please introduce yourselves and /or PM me and we can get the kids together. I would love to be included in the Meet on Deck 10. Can anyone fill me in on the details? Is there any other info you need from us?

My son West is in the 4th grade, turned 10 in july. PM me and we can exchange emails and the boys can get to know each other.

My youngest son, Colton is 7 and considers himself quite the ladie's man. I am desperately trying to discourage this! :headache:

I think we have too much luggage and we haven't even finished packing.

****TIP****!!
Pack and then take 50% of it out! Or at least 25%! We really overpacked last year and that was with us taking a bunch out!

We are going to pack lighter and then just do 1 or 2 loads of laundry (do it at night before setlling in....it will only take like an hour to do). This allows you to pack your water in and then bring any souvenirs home! Don't forget any room for the little extra stuff coming home!

Good luck!

I gotta find out about that Bonine stuff. I never even heard of it. Only pharmacy type places here are cvs, duane reade, rite aide and walgreens...bet I have a hard time finding it:headache:

Bonine is a brand name for the drug meclizine.
Dramamine II (the non-drowsy Dramamine - not the original) is exactly the same stuff, just a different brand name. There are probably other brands too.

I always stock up at Wal-Mart when in the US. It can be hard to find amongst all the different medicines on the shelf, but I've never not found it eventually.

On the ship there is usually a box full of individual-dose packets of meclizine outside the Medical Centre for you to help yourself to if required.

You know, there have been double-blind studies where ginger has been proven to be the most effective anti-nausea remedy - even more so than Dramamine.

Ginger tablets can be picked up at any health food store, and they don't have any side effects. I tried them once on a rough North Sea ferry crossing and I felt fine within 5 minutes. I've heard ginger-ale is effective also, but you have to drink a lot of it. And that'll just make you burp all the time.

I agree with Walt's Freezer. I have also read where ginger tablets are much better for motion sickness than the other products.

I bought Ginger tablets at our local drugstore a couple of months ago.

Just popping in to say hi! I will be on the cruise with my DH and our best freinds. This is my second Eastern cruise on DCL, my 10th cruise total on DCL.
If you see a group of 4 50somethings with drinks in their hands, it's probably us:rotfl:
I'll be up on deck 10 dancing like a crazy fool at the sailaway with my friend, our dh's will be shaking their heads at us:banana:
I can't wait!:cloud9:

It is with great trepidation that me and my dw (hey, I know the lingo!) are going on our first Disney Cruise within 2 weeks. We'll be going with her family, and while they all have drunk deeply from the Disney kool-aid, I am slightly Disney-jaded.

I blame this on the fact that I grew up a short drive from Disney World and every time we'd have a visitor from out-of-state, we'd go there - sometimes three or four times a year. I keep my cynicism a closely guarded secret, as I would never want to damper my in-law's enthusiasm.

Surely, there must be someone reading these boards who is childless, and is feeling the same apprehension that I am. Or perhaps you once were much like me, and this is your 17th Disney Cruise and you've named your children after Disney characters and you can tell me how I'll be won over by the experience. Or even better, you plan on spending the bulk of your cruise locked away in the safety of the adults-only area and you need a drinking partner.....

Fear Not! Our best freinds, who have not yet drunk the Disney kool-aid, went on a 4 night Disney Cruise with DH and I last year. Before the cruise was over they had rebooked with us on the 4-28 cruise.
They too worried about too much Disney, but were pleasantly surprised and very happy with: Diversions, Cove cafe, The quiet cove pool, the spa, and all the adult venues at night. They loved the food and the overall look of the ship, and really loved walking past the intense craziness of the family beach to head to Serenity Bay!
Most of the time the guys will be in Diversions, there will be lots of drinking buddies in there!

Ginger Ale and Crown Royal also makes a nice tranquilizer...I mean tonic. :lmao:

Stellar! I also read in a reply that they have Guinness on board, so I'm getting a bit more optimistic. :)

I just wanted to ease some of your minds that, chances are, you will not have to have anything on the ship! Don't stress out trying to find something to take with you (and that goes for the kids as well)! Worse comes to worse, you go to the health center and pick a tablet or two the first night!

Actually, I've talked to 3 friends that put the patch on before leaving the port and later found that it actually made them sick! It wasn't the motion, it was the patch that made them sick. After giong through 2 days of sickness, someone onboard told them to take off their patches. For all 3 friends, they enjoyed the rest of the trip. I asked my doctor about it and she said that is often the case.

So..forewarning...if you are planning on taking something as a preventitive measure, I would think about it a little more. You're better off starting with nothing and taking something if you have to have it, rather than your body starting off wrong!

Keep the changes & updates coming! For those of you with guarantees, did you get your room #'s yet?
