Will we be able to get into our room if we arrive around 1am? DH is going to drive all night and this should put us at arriving around 1am, I was once told that we should be able to go onto our room if we check in then, but I would like to hear others opinions on this.

If you are checking in as a late arrival for the day before you should have no trouble. I don't know about counting it as an early arrival, that is still right much of the night, the people that got there 1 hour before you had to pay for a whole day, I expect that is what they will expect you to do also.

Is your reservation starting the previous day/night? If so, I would think you could if it is guaranteed with deposit.
If you are speaking of your reservation not starting until later in the day of arrival, then I believe check-in time is 3 pm for resorts and 4pm for DVC resorts.
Keep in mind that is when check-ins begin, you may officially check-in at the desk earlier, but a room may be assigned yet.

if you're paying for that day before, then i would assume you'd be able to get your room... you'd technically be checking in very, very late for the day before (and i'd definitely let them know that - to put it on your ressie, even call them yourself that day while you're on the road to be sure they don't give away your room). I think it's very iffy that they'd let you check into a room that you booked for that coming day, with check-in time being 3pm or so. I'd speak to disney about it so you're not stuck.

We will be arriving in the early morning hours of August 23, I have already paid for the 23rd and 24th. The CM said that we wouldn't have any problem, and I was also told by the CM at AS Movies that beginning June 23, that if you check in, no matter what time that day, if you want to go to your room, they have to give you a clean room, no more having to wait until 3 or 4 pm. Don't know if that is true, we usually arrive later in the day, but we want to be ready to get to MG as soon as they open the morning of August 23 and I don't know if we will be able to leave any earlier on the 22nd, so as to get in another room.

Alternatively you might want to book an inexpensive room off site for that night... not much would be worse than pulling in at 1 AM, doing the check in and having the CM smile and say, call back this afternoon after 3PM to see if your room is ready.

The new policy she is speaking of is that if they have a clean room of the type you reserved that is not designated for another guest at the time you arrive they will give it to you...I think that might be a whole lot of ifs!!

Disney hotels average >90% occupancy year round...so I would think the chances of having a room available at 1AM of your check in day that is not been assigned to another arriving guest are VERY slim,.

From your second post it sounds like you have made your mind up to try this...let us know how it comes out for you...but don't be too cranky at Disney if they do not have a room for you at 1AM!!

As others have said, if you are "arriving late" for a room you book for the night of your travel day you will be fine. If you are "arriving early" for the next night you will not even be able to check in - let alone get a room. The computers don't "turn over" until the early morning (I think I've read its between 6 and 7am) and you can not check in until the turn over has occured. Once you check in you may or may not be able to get a room. We checked in once at 7am and were not able to get a room until 2:30. Another time we checked in at 9:30 and were given a great room - luck of the draw I guess

Your room won't be in the system until about 6AM on the morning of the 23rd. So if you check in at 1AM, you won't be in the system at all until 6AM. Checking in at 1am on the 23rd is really checking in for the 22nd.

I would reserve and pay for that night. You are coming in and getting a nights sleep. I would not come in at 1am an expect to get into a room for the next night's stay. JMHO

I am on the phone with a CM right now and he said that it is possible to check in that early, but they may or may not have the room ready, so I just added a night just in case and can cancel it up to 6 days beofre we leave if necessary.

Thank you for you help, we were just going to sleep in the car if a room wasn't available, and may still do that.
