Day 4 - December 3rd
This morning we headed out to the Animal Kingdom. The rest of our weather so far has been just glorious! Today is not LOL. It is gloomy and damp and chilly. Oh well, it's still better than Minnesota. First thing we headed off to the Safari. We waited probably 10-15 minutes. We had a wonderful driver, but I forgot her name too. The lions were sleeping, but the other animals seemed to be out and about. When we got off we wandered the trail for
awhile. We loved watching the gorilla's. One of the babies was swinging around in the trees, then took a ride on mommy's back. Then he went back in the tree, behind the large male, and was pounding his chest, like he was trying to be tough. They were so cute. We headed to camp Minnie Mickey where we met Brer Fox , Brer Bear and Pluto. Brer Fox was such a clown, he played tic tac toe with Matthew in both his and Alexa's books. Then Brer Bear
came over and started playing with my sons hair (he had a fresh haircut, the kind that is buzzed all over, then gelled up in the very front). They were pretending like they were making his hair stand up farther. A lot of the characters seemed to like to mess with his hair. We then lined up for the Lion King. Today I remembered to get my earplugs out for Alexa. This made many things much more enjoyable for her. I hate sitting and waiting for
things to start, especially for this long, but the show was great. Alexa, once again, was in awe! She was totally wide eyed for the whole show. We headed for lunch at the Pizzafari. This place was pretty good, dh and ds had pizza (my son ate a ton of pizza this trip) and Alexa and I split the pasta again. The pasta was pretty good, but the breadstick was fantastic!!! I wish I would have just ordered the cheesesticks for lunch, they were so
good. After lunch we headed to Dinoland for Tarzan rocks, again another wait, but at least this theater has bathrooms and backs on the seats. While the singers seemed a little like lounge lizards to me, and they can't possibly do Phil Collin's justice, we really liked this show. My dd loves Tarzan, and knows all the words. She was just fascinated when Jane and Tarzan were out on stage, and the skaters were pretty cool too. We headed out after
this. It was way too cold for Kali River, and my kids were no way going on Dinosaur. This park is very pretty, but I don't think we'll visit on our next trip. We went back to the ASMo for a little while, we had 4:40 PS at Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic package. The next morning we were moving to the BC and had early PS, so we needed to gather our stuff now. We arrived at MGM and checked in at H&V, and were seated in less than 5 minutes.
Our waitress was right there, and got our drink orders and told us to go to the buffet when we were ready. My dd is very picky and did not like the Mac and Cheese (even though she loves Kraft) at Chef Mickeys. She said she wanted to get some here though, so I put some on her plate along wth a pile of mashed potatoes. She loves potatoes. Much to my surprise, this time the Macs was a winner! Dh and I enjoyed our dinners too, I had turkey and pork
and chicken. Dh had chicken and I'm not sure what else. Then I hit the desserts, ooooh boy. They had German Chocolate cake that was to die for! I even went for a second piece, against my better judgement. It was so good. Then we headed off to Fantasmic. Alexa was not pleased about this, she was already afraid of the dragon she had seen on the planning videos. It was very cold and windy this night, and the reserved section got very wet! The
first half of the section got up and left after it started, we were getting soaked. Steve had to wipe the lens on the camcorder 3 or 4 times. My daughter spent 90% of the show with her ears covered and head buried, even with the plugs. This is a loud show! She peeked out to see the princesses on the floats, and then when I told her the dragon was dead, she perked up and watched the end with the steamboat and fireworks. After it was over, on the
way out, she says "next time we see Fantasmic, I'm going to keep my eyes open" LOL. (You will read further that this did happen). When you go in through the reserved section, they really wind you in and around to get out, only to get dumped out in the back just like everyone else. We then went back to see the Osborne lights. All we could do was stare and say WOW! The snow and the lights on the streets were just beautiful!!! And the snowflake
glasses made everything so pretty. I shot about 40 pictures on the backlot, and dh shot a ton of video footage. I bet it took us an hour to walk through. The crowds were almost gone when we got done. It was just so amazing, I can't say how much we loved it. The Christmas music playing made it even better. The kids wanted to go through again, but it was getting later, and we had to be up really early, and it was sooooo cold! I almost bought
gloves. We went back to the hotel to sleep after a magical night. Dh dropped me at the front desk, so I could get a printout of our charges, arrange for our luggage to be moved and to get some Hot Cocoa in our mugs. As I was walking back to the room, I was almost sad to be leaving the Movies, we had so much fun here (little did I know how much better it would get).
