Early Dec 7m window nothing available - even SSR/OKW

We always go the first or second week of Dec for multiple reasons (Use Year, School, Timing, etc) so we've been going annually (skipped a year or 2 for going at different times) since 2006.

This is the first I can recall there being NO availability for the 1st week at any resort. Even SSR/OKW are either waitlisted or only have a few sporadic days available. And the 7m window is only about 1 week deep for Dec. 1st.

We're already booked - thankfully - I was just checking for curiosity and was surprised to see nothing available.

DVC is gaining momentum each year.

I'm also wondering; if SSR is supposed to be under refurb then did they already remove the appropriate amount of units from inventory and that's why its booked solid? Or if they didn't remove them - do they possibly overbook?

SSR inventory was added back last week for October and November. I had been watching the last week of October since early April and there was zero studio availability anywhere.

Fast forward to a week ago, and SSR studios were available for the whole month. They must have dropped some villas back into inventory that weren’t needed for the refurb.

The Dec time you want is one of DVC's highest demand times of the year and much is usually filled before 7 months out. The year is likely even worse because of possible rooms out-of-service for refurb at SSR and higher demand created by Star Wars.

So - you are fairly certain that they've already removed the rooms for refurb from SSR inventory? I'm just wondering if they'd likely overbook. Since there is no schedule out yet on SSR refurb I'm curious how many and which sections are scheduled and even when they're likely to begin.

I just checked for a trip I was planning with a friend. There’s nothing available. I checked to see if I could just get a cheap cash room instead. CB is $300 a night for the crappy Pirate room.

Multiple youth competitions filling up the All-Stars and overflowing to Standards at CBR and CSR.

That they have sets of rooms already designated to be unavailable during that December time is something that has likely already been done. That was usual process in the past. The issue becomes whether later, because of events such as completing things faster, rooms scheduled to be down for that period (and others) open up again, which is a possibility. That has happened in the past with some resort refurbs, e.g., for a resort being refurbed, usually difficult to get rooms may suddenly open up for a whole month at four months out. The problem is they don't tell you when or if such will actually happen and you do not get notice it has occurred. What has happened in the past is that someone going on line for another purpose notices rooms have opened up again for some time periods and reports it on this site, and then within a few days to a week, you see the available days fill up again.
