I was wondering what the possibilties are for a room to be ready for an early check in. We'll be checking in around 8-9 am Sunday June 24, 1 bedroom at BWV. We're staying the previous night at Pop Century and heading over to BWV first thing in the morning. It really doesn't matter if it will be available or not we'll just check our bags and head to MGM. Just wondering what others experiences have been. I figured with the high point cost of Friday and Saturday that maybe Sunday morning would be a time when rooms may be vacant and ready..BTW our first trip as DVC members.

Thats kind of early....but ya never know....

I always check in around 10:30-11am.....
So far I have been lucky.....my room is ALWAYS ready:cool1:

2x WL...not DVC
1x pop and pofq...

last week SSR....ready at 11am:cool1: 1st DVC trip:goodvibes

IMO, most vacationers are first checking out on Sunday, so the chances of a room being ready would be somewhat remote at that early hour. I hope you're lucky and one is available, but be prepared for a later move-in time. :thumbsup2

when we were there last month, we checked in about 2pm on Sat., and our room(studio) was not ready until 6pm!!

If you are checking into a studio or 2 bedroom, pretty slim, but a GV...maybe, since Saturday high point nights might find them empty the night before.

Both trips we have checked in around noon and had our rooms ready. Both 2br villas, one on Sunday before Thanksgiving(SSR) and a Saturday at VWL in early May.

We have just returned from our 5th DVC stay since joining fall 2005. We have stayed at WLV 3 times and BWV 2 times. We always check in before noon as we have early flights or stay at Pop the arrival day. We have never been blessed with our room being ready. I read that some folks do get in by 1 or 2 and think, wow, that never happens to us. We are lucky if our room is ready at 4:00PM. We don't think we have a lot of requests, because view is not important to us. We use to just request non-smoking, but don't have to do that anymore. We often will ask for ground floor, but we only get that request 50% of the time. The OP should be prepared that it is highly unlikely that your room will be ready.

I had absolutely no requests other than non-smoking on either room. I am always prepared that we will not get the room till 4pm(pack swimsuits in carry-on or have plans to go to one of the parks). I guess I have just been lucky these first 2 trips and will always be prepared for the wait.

Sorry, my suggestion would be to go with the idea that there is no way you are going to get right in. We hardly ever do. And that way if it happens, it is a bonus.
We always check in on Sunday and most often can't get in until 4. We check the bags out front, check in and then go right to the parks and enjoy the day.

Thanks for your replies, being a first-timer I was wondering what the possibilty would be.

Does the time of the year matter, busy season vs. non-busy season? Just wondering how the crowds matter in getting an early check-in. We are checking into a 2 bedroom at SSR 8/23 (a Thursday). Also, any idea how long it takes to get from the airport to SSR on Magical Express?

Thank you.

Since staying DVC, I've never had a crowd at any of the resorts while checking in. Usually no line at all. I always go during non busy times (never holidays or June or July) and have never gotten a room before 4:00PM.

We have stayed at all DVC resorts regularly, with the exception of SSR and BWV in my own opinion is the worst as far as your room being ready. This being said, we usually have a boardwalk view room with a high floor requested. We have never been disappointed with our room and view, but we have had to wait for it. Just our experience!

We got to SSR around 11am on Sat. May 12....we checked in at that time & then swam at the pool until our room was ready....about 3pm.

My question is a bit different. We are switching over to OKW from POFQ on a sunday. We had planned on checking in at OKW early. Having the room ready is not important to us as we have other things planned for the day anyway. I did hear though that the earlier the check in the better chance to have requests met. Is this still true or if the rooms aren't ready do they just send us on our way and put our names at the bottom of a list or something?

I think they actually assign you the room they just don't tell you what it is until it is ready. That way they can give you your room key and you can go on your way doing whatever you chose for the day. Last year they told me which building just not which room.

I was able to check into a GV at OKW at 8 AM Dec 27 a couple of years ago. that was a Sunday so think it was probably empty because of high points and also I had requested non smoking and it was a smoking optional villa and they had "desmoked" it (this from the check in CM) which probably took a good amount of time on the Saturday. It had obviously been cleaned from top to bottom including the rugs.

Thanks castleri. We have multiple units booked and we really want to be close to each other. At least in the same building so I figure we had better check in early if that helps any.

I've been very pleasantly surprised in all 6 stays at OKW that the CMs have taken the time to try to find a room in an area in a particular area that was near a pool and not on the ground floor. A room was always pre-assigned to us, but they were willing to tell me about other options. In all but one case, I was checking in way before noon. The only time the room was ready before 2-4 PM was on a Sunday in late April. The 2 BR was ready at 8 AM when I checked in after staying at Pop Century.

In 4 stays at VWL, our home resort that we love, we have always been told that the resort was booked and there was no other option than the room we were pre-assigned. That said, the rooms have been spectacular and we wouldn't have traded any of them!

Thanks. Sounds good.

do you have to wait around for it? Or can you stash your stuff and come back later? I'm assuming they won't give you a key if the room isn't ready, but will they try to save you one that fits your request (if you have any) or do you just take your chances the later you come back? Is there any reason to check in early in the day vs. very late in the day if you have a choice?
