EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

Cristi ~ I'm asking you b/c I think I've read somewhere that you've gotten a birthday cake before. MIL has a b-day on the cruise. Do we request the cake or do they automatically bring it? Do you know if there are any diabetic options.

I had a cake for my b'day on the last cruise. They brought it out after dinner. I am pretty sure DH told the servers about it though ahead of time

Sorry for posting again. I thought of a couple of things I wanted to ask.

Cristi ~ I'm asking you b/c I think I've read somewhere that you've gotten a birthday cake before. MIL has a b-day on the cruise. Do we request the cake or do they automatically bring it? Do you know if there are any diabetic options.

Stacie ~ what kind of toys are you taking for Andy? I'm wondering how I'm going to keep John entertained. His favorite thing is crawling around and being very active.

I think that's all for now. Thanks everyone.:hourglass

When you make your ressie there is a place for special occasions. We didn't put anything but later had our TA call DCL and tell them that we would be celebrating Andy's birthday onboard and told them what night we wanted to celebrate. On our last cruise one of our tablemates had a cake and the parents just reminded the servers the night before. I don't know about the diabetic options. I would think they could do something.

I don't know what to bring for Andy. I think I'll be sending a box a head of time so I plan to stick some in there. I'm thinking about his Fisher Price "CD player", his favorite books, and a couple of his phones (he got two for his b-day, one from each Gma, he fights us for the real phone all the time). Maybe a new one too that he's never seen, that way he has all week to figure it out.

Andy didn't get any shots at his 9 month check, maybe it'll be the same for you. I had wisdom teeth out in high school. I remember not going to school and thinking I was getting away with something because it wasn't bad, hopefully, yours will go as well.

I don't think I'll put any names on the bags. I was worried about people taking them if they weren't personalized, but I think I'm being paranoid. It might be worthwhile to leave them up all week just to see if anyone puts anything in them. ;)

Kathryn and Susan-- I just heard back from Mouguett who does the group Palo reservations. Evidently if you are included in a group ressie for brunch you can not have an individual brunch also (I had both scheduled too). I'm supposed to call her back tomorrow to tell her if you want to keep the group one or the individual one. Please let me know what you want to do. Sorry, I didn't know that you couldn't do both.

Susan, I hope your wisdom teeth goes well. I had mine out in college and it wasn't much fun. Now, of course, it was at a military dentist. Just the shots, nothing to relax me at all. Hopefully John won't need any vaccines. Even if he does, it is early enough in December that he should be feeling better by cruise time.

Stacie, no names is fine for the bags. I think I will put our last name on our magnets. Last cruise they ended up away from our door. I think they got knocked off somehow and ended up on someone else's door. I found them a few doors down from us.

Stacie - I have removed my reservation for the Palo brunch, so you should be able to add me for the group brunch now.

My parents received their cruise docs today - but we didn't get ours yet. I'm guessing everyone should be getting them in the next couple days, but with the holidays, it could be later.

I was never able to get a palo reservation so the 3 in my party are all willing with the group. Jo-Ellen says she can already taste those crab legs.

Apparently we are Main Dining...is Disney good about placing adults with other adults?

Ugh...I am not looking forward to getting my wisdom teeth taken out. I know it has to happen soon, but I'm going to fight and scream all the way to the chair.

When my sister got some of her teeth taken out (they weren't coming out on their own, so they needed a little...persuasion), the dentist told her to eat a lot of pineapple (about 2 or 3 servings a day) the week before. He said that they contain a natural enzyme that helps reduce swelling and brusing after the surgery. Either fresh or canned pineapple...not frozen. I want to say the enzyme is bromelain, but I'll double check on that.

Thank you for the pineapple advice. I love pineapple, so it won't be a problem. I just hope I'm properly healed before the cruise so I can enjoy all the yummy food.

It took me about 2 weeks to fully recover from my wisdom teeth being taken out. I had mine removed when I was 15 before they even broke the surface of my gums. I looked like a chipmuck! Just remember don't use straws or drink hot liquids. I think I ate a lot of Jello at first.

:woohoo: :woohoo: I got the formal offer today! :woohoo: :woohoo:

My co-workers think I'm crazy for jumping for joy,

The documents have arrived. I just got off the phone with my TA, she just got the docs in the mail.

:hourglass We're getting close now. I need to get serious this weekend and get those pirate costumes finished. When I think of all that needs to be done before we leave I start to panic. I just found out the other day that we are going to have house guests coming in the day we get home.

DD's Santa :santa: presents came yesterday. DH brought the boxes in but left them in the kitchen for DD to see. Thank goodness they didn't have American Girl printed on the boxes. She loves to open boxes, so I lied and told her that they were just car parts that Daddy ordered and she lost interest in them.

The weather here turned cold and yucky today. We've been spoiled with temps in the 70's this past week. Today it's cold and rainy with a chance of snow fluries. Just gets me more in the mood for the cruise.

P.S. Congrats Melissa on the job offer.

Ditto that!!! It's snowing and blowing like crazy here, we have 2" on the ground and no sign of stopping. School got out an hour early. I'm glad that it got cold, it would be hard to leave for a cruise when it was 70 and sunny. This makes it all the sweeter.

Melissa--Congrats on the offer. You will have so much more fun on the cruise with exams being done, and a job secured!

I got an e-mail this morning after talking with Mouguett confirming the group brunch from 10:30-12:00 on Monday, December 17.

We got our movies from Netflix today (Hairspray, Wild Hogs, and Unaccompanied Minors) and I went to the movie store (Netflix didn't have Ratitoulle or Planes, Trains, and Automobiles) so were all set for the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Congratulations Melissa on the job offer. :cool1: Now you can really enjoy the cruise knowing that you have a job secured.

Patty ~ What AG stuff did Laura get? Rachel wanted the Nicki doll. David ordered her and a few accessories last night with the free shipping.

Stacie ~ It's 72 where I am right now. It's supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. All those movies sound great. I don't remember the last time I watched a movie.

John is currently napping in my mom's arms. I laid him down and he woke right up. Grandma's are so much more comfortable to sleep on.

Congratulations Melissa on the job offer. It took all the post to figure out what your post meant. Sometimes I'm slow.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone.

My docks are on the UPS truck, I'm still waiting for him to come. He usually comes @2:00pm, it is now 5:43 & he still isn't here :confused3. Guess I have to wait till Friday now:sad2:

 :dance3:  :dance3:
My Doc's just came @6:15:cheer2: :cheer2:

I noticed my clock is off.

Congrats Melissa! :cool1: Glad you got the job offer. I'm waiting for a reply from Disney. I interviewed for the College Program last Saturday for this January to August. I probably won't take it if I get it...I kinda doubt they would give me 3 weeks off to do the Panama Canal cruise and Disneyland in May. I really want to do it next January, so this interview was more like practice. But I'm still anxious to hear if I got accepted or not. I must say, the interview was a piece of cake...she wanted to know about my most magical memory in the parks, what I would look for in a good cast member, etc. So I feel like I breezed through it like nothing. I did talk about when I went to WDW in March and did DiveQuest at Epcot (I went scuba diving in the Seas with Nemo and Friends). Since I was a honorary cast member, I got to be backstage and everything. While in the water, I saw this boy about 6 or 7 off in the corner, so I swam over to him and we started playing rock, paper, scissors for about 5 minutes. So, I'm hoping that that alone would get me in.

The weather here has also turned cooler. It was about 80 or so today, and now it's around the low 60s. I must say, it's kinda sad when a cold front comes in and the news is calling it an "arctic blast." But it will be nice to finally have a chance to wear jackets and whatnot.

Oh, and I got my cruise documents today!!!! I was just about to leave for work when the UPS guy drove up to the house across the street. I was talking to my mom and said how some of y'all have gotten your docs and how DCL uses UPS. Any who, as we were standing there, the guy came over and asked if I was expecting a package from Disney Cruise Line!!! YAY!!! However, only my cruise docs were included. So...if my parents don't get theirs soon, I'll be calling Dreams Unlimited and DCL. It's odd though since I put the same address for my parents and we're all part of the same party.

I'll catch up on everything later, but I got my docs today!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks everyone!

Best of luck to you. I believe those types of stories should help, but I really don't know much about the Disney College Program other than you don't want to go into housekeeping. The whole job process is hard. I must have interviewed with first rounds for at least 20 companies. I had second interviews with a couple of them, but I kinda knew after the second interview the place I ended up getting a good offer from was the one for me. I just need the answers to two questions (making sure they remembered about the whole wedding thing so it doesn't hinder me/what's my start date) and then I'm sending the signed document in.

Apparently they have attempted to deliver my documents twice but during a time period where someone was home. UPS sucks here - they never ring the doorbell & its going to be on final delivery on Friday/Monday so they better not pull that again or I'll call and flip out on them.

Congrats Melissa!!

It sounds like you have a nice relaxing weekend Stacie with the movies. You picked some good ones.

It snowed here yesterday too. We only got an inch or two though. It is cold though. I am ready for the beach!!!
