EARLY CHECK IN: December 15th, 2007 - Seven night Western - 12/15/07

We just booked!!

Category 6, Stateroom 6060

I know it's WAY early...but I'm getting excited already!!!

So...who else is going???

dutch_girl_scout has put together a website to organize the DIS'ers going and their info:

We booked for the 7 day cruise starting on the 22nd of Dec.....Funny thing is, is that you are in our room......so keep it clean....would ya...haaaaa

Since they clean the entire ship in just 4 hours, a year seems like plenty of time to clean room 6060. :lmao:

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Andy got a tooth on Wednesday and Friday last week, he got lots of extra love and hugs this weekend. We took down the baby swing this weekend because he's getting too big. :sad2: He grabs the fish and tries to sit up while he swinging.

The kids' last day of school is tomorrow, they go river tubing with church on Wednesday, then the wacky summer schedule starts (but nothing starts before 9am :) ).

Hi everyone - :goodvibes

Apologies in advance for the multiple postings I'm about to send - I was told I can't respond to private messages until I have at least 6 postings. Since I'm a newbie, I have to get my number up!

I can't believe so many of your kids are out of school already! Mine are in until mid-June, and they start late August. We really have to pack their activities into a very short period of time (9 weeks of summer). Here's pixiedust: for all the moms heading into the summer!

Cheers -
Kathryn

Okay, posting #2...gotta get the total up to six!

pixiedust: to PinkPrincessMom - I hope your daughter is over the pox and feeling better. If she's still in bed, here's a suggestion that my daughter still loves for sick days - you drag out the twinkly Christmas lights and string them up all around her room. It's especially cheery when the child has to take a nap, and wakes up to a darkened room with the lights aglow. Hope you're doing well, too - with mid-night wakeups with a sick child and a small one at home, too, you need some rest!

Cheers -
Kathryn

Here's some pixiedust: pixiedust: for Christi and family - I'm glad you're happier at work and I'm sending best wishes and pixie dust your way for your DH's job search. The callback does sound promising!
Hang in there -
Kathryn

Stacie -
Thanks for doing all that you've done to welcome us to this site, and to set up the website for the cruise as well.

We just heard about Great Wolf in the past few months, and were planning to go there in Feb. until we got invited to tag along with DH on a business trip in Arizona instead (yay for free hotel rooms...). I'm really interested in how it goes. We have outdoor water parks here, but it's often too cold/windy to really enjoy them, even in the summer (don't hate me for our great weather!).

I think a number of girls in the GS troop actually stayed in the troop just to go on a week-long trip to Southern California in June 2008; I'm fundraising chair, and we've been saving for this trip for 2 years now - as well as raising money for all of the on-going camping trips, Council events, etc. A smaller group will be much easier to manage, but I think the remaining girls might be sad for a few meetings until they adjust to some of their friends missing from the meetings. Next year, since so many of them will do sports in middle school, which practice right after school, they'll start meeting on Wednesday evenings. We have a dedicated Scout House just for GS, and we've reserved a room with a kitchen, so the girls will be able to cook or just eat dinner that we've provided while they meet. I think it will be fun.

I'm off to check the cruise website!

I'm so inspired by your tales of travel and adventure. Your photos were fabulous, and it was interesting to read your posts while you were in Africa. I didn't travel much before I got married, and hope that my DD's will get a chance to do what you've done before they settle down. Best wishes for the upcoming wedding, too - I hope it's wonderful. The costs that you quoted sounded outrageous - good for you to figure out how to cut down the list and still make it the way you wanted!

Cheers to everyone!

Hi everyone & welcome to our many new members.
I haven't been MIA. Just wasn't able to get on the site. after 1/2 hour I finally was able to log on today.

My son Ricky, is getting ready for training camp in Nashville. He goes July 12-16. He will meet up with all Team USA 400 athletes.

Oh let me back up in case I haven't told you Ricky is one of 4 athletes from Delaware & 400 athletes from the USA. Traveling to Shanhai China For Special Olympics World Games. Opening ceremonies is October 2 & is to be broadcast.

He will compete in swimming 100 meter freestyle & 50 meter backstroke & a relay.

melissa glad you are home safe. What awesome pictures you took.WOW

Hope all is well with everyone & hope & can I can get back on line before we go.

WOW!! There has been a lot of activity since my last post.

DD did not have the vaccine. It was not required for her age to go to school, but anyone younger, it is required. Many of her classmates got the vaccine and also got the pox and so kindly shared them with Rachel.

John will get the vaccine at one year of age. I talked to the ped. about them both getting it when John was 1. Guess Rachel won't need it now.

She actually hasn't felt too very bad. She had 2 itcy days where we took oatmeal baths and used cream. She's got maybe 100 spots. They're not all crusted over yet, so still no school. The last day is Wednesday, so we hope she'll be back for that.

Kathryn...your multiple posts are so funny. I did that after our first cruise so I could post in picture of the day.

Cristi...so glad things at your work are better and hope DH gets that job at the VA.

Stacie...I think John is teething, but no teeth yet. I dread those days...and nights. The ped. did say John would still have my immunity. We'll have to wait and see.

Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts for DD.

oops, we are not going until Dec. 08...but could you please let me know how that room is.....thanks

I'll take pictures of the room. Too bad you aren't going until 2008...if it was the week after us, I would hide something in the room for you and your family to find :santa:

Hi everyone,

I survived this past week. DD and I had GS Day camp Monday thru Thursday last week, had to go to work on Friday just to get some rest. (This years day camp had a pirate theme and I got some real neat pirate themed SWAPS. One of my favorites is a little parot that you can pin on your shoulder. May have to make a few of my own to share with my fellow GS on the cruise.) After my one day of rest, it was into birthday party mode. DD turned 6 yesterday, June 11. On Saturday I had to pull her our of her t-ball game early so that we could make it to her kid party on time. Sunday it was dance recital practice at in the morning, dance recital in the afternoon, and a family birthday party celebration that evening, Monday it was back to work for another day of rest.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. Is everyone out of school now? DD has been out since May 23.

Hi everyone! DH got a job(insert woo-hoo guy here, my smilies don't seem to work). He will be working for the VA hospital doing computer support in their pharmacy dept. It sounds like the perfect job for him, doing compute work with a pharmacy twist. He can use both of his degrees. He won't be starting until the second week of July, it seems to take awhile to get all of the paperwork through HR. Now as far as money goes the cruise is on, we just have to see if he can get the time off.

Patty, those pirate swaps sound pretty cool. Swaps might be a good idea with all of the girl scouts on this cruise. :)

Rachel has been at GS camp all week. This is the first time she has done resident camp. I am sure she is having a blast, but I sure miss her. They just completely redid one of the camps here and made it way nicer. She is at the first camp of the summer up there. They now have obstacle courses, climbing walls, softball fields, horseback riding, archery, a stage opening to a mini ampetheater and I don't even know what else. It looked great when we dropped her off. I am thinking we need to get our troop up there for a weekend trip. It is about 21/2 hours away in a very pretty part of the mountains.

There, that should cover it. I'm so glad for your family, it does sound like a good fit for your DH.

I'm sure you're DD is having fun. Kaitlyn goes to camp next week, she is dreading it, they'll have to compare stories. This week has been bible school, it is 9-11:30 each morning. The kids are both helpers, Andy and I have done nursery on Mon, Wed, and tomorrow. Swim team has also started (11-12 each day), as well as band, orchestra, and chior lessons. It feels like we've been having summer for a month and it hasn't even been a full week. I'm glad that the A/C in the van works and that Andy has a comfy carseat! We got his 7 month pictures taken today, I'll have to post the link, we have 50 to choose from. :scared1:

Patty-Sounds like your summer is flying by too, it's bad when you have to go to work to rest!!

Cristi...I'm so happy your DH got a job. I hope he enjoys it an that you guys can have some fun during his "time off".

Stacie...I can't wait to see pictures of Andy. I bet my John is bigger. He weighs 16 pounds by our bathroom scale.

Patty...Rachel has enjoyed emailing with Laura. I hope she had a happy birthday. Sounds like things have been very busy at your house.

Christi glad DH jod a job. hope he gets off for the cruise

Stacie can't wait to see Andy's pictures. it is hard to believe he is 7 months old already. Times goes by fast.

I'm going to pay for Sharon Samantha & Beth's cruise just as soon as I get around to it.   2 down 1 to go:cheer2:

hope all is well with everyone.

I finally can get back on the site:dance3:

Happy 15th everyone!!!!! Only 6 more months!!!!!

Susan--John has almost caught Andy, he was 18 lbs 4 oz on 5/14, he goes back on Monday. He loves baby food, we haven't found any yet that he won't eat.
