Early Character Breakfast

We want to have an early breakfast because we also want to take advantage of EMH every day. Our dates are 8/31-9/5. I know the park hours won't be posted until about 45 days ahead, but can anyone give me an idea what hours typically are in the week leading up to Labor Day weekend? Labor Day is late this year, so not sure if the first week in Sept is equivalent to the last week in August last year?? Thanks!!
PS - I am used to making reservations so early at WDW, would I be ok waiting until mid to late July for a reservation for that week? Thanks!

I would probably go with the hours from the last of August in 2014 as a reference point. The Disneyland Marathon happened on Labor Day weekend in 2014 (8/29-31) and is slated to happen on Labor Day weekend this year (9/4-6). So it seems like using the week before the marathon is a good(ish) reference point. Based on that, DL and DCA both open at 9:00 am on the weekdays. You can get a sense of this historic hours in the wdwinfo archive, but things can always vary from year-to-year, especially at the end of August.

I made a reservation for the Character breakfast at Plaza Inn for Monday August 24th. The earliest I could get was for 8:40pm (party of 12). I called on the day when it was 60 days in advance. While on the phone, the CM mentioned that the park opened at 9am that day and explained how we get into the park before then. Of course, CM are known to be wrong but that was when the park opened last year. So for your week, I would think it would be about the same - 9am.
