Early Booking Savings - Are they real?

If you're on the ship & they offer specials for certain weeks - TAKE IT! If you are at all interested & don't mind putting down the deposit, book one of these weeks. In addition to the onboard credit you get, these specials are really good.

We booked one of the 4 days for early 2003. I called DCL when we got back to ask about changing to a cheaper category, and it would have been more than what we already had! A cat 6 4 day was $300 more at home than on the ship.

I know that isn't really about early booking, but just wanted to share

We booked our Feb 2003 cruise in May 2002 (2 adults in Cat 6 on the Magic) and the price has gone up $380 over the past 5 months. That's real savings in my book!

Of course, we saved another "real" $246 (~10%) by booking with Costco.
