We are flying the red eye from California and will arrive at MCO at 5:49 a.m. I booked a van to pick us up, but after reading these boards it sounds like we will not be allowed into the port that early. The van company said they can drop us at the Radisson and we can wait there and then take the hotel shuttle. Has anyone done this? Or would you recommend we cancel the van and just wait at the airport and take the Disney transfer?

My vote would be to get a transfer on the DCL bus and wait at the airport. By the time you get off the plane, collect yourself, and eat breakfast, it would almost be time to to register with DCL for teh bus trip to the port. Just my thoughts. - Mike

I would probably try to get a day room at the Hyatt, take a snooze and shower, then take the later bus over to the port. A nice shower would probably do you good that morning, because it does become a long day, and for you, even longer.

SacNoir - In case you take ClarabelleCow's advice a day room at the Hyatt MCO is $60. BTW Sacnoir, Welcome to the DisBoards. - Mike

I think you should book a room for the night BEFORE your cruise requesting late check-out. This way you can check in right away, shower and put your bags in the hall for pick-up, go to sleep until 12 noon - and have a town car pick you up, take you to the port where you can board right away.
Usually the day room is from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. - maybe you could arrange a deal directly with the Hyatt for 6:00a.m. to 12 noon - you won't know until you ask

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'd love to check in to the Hyatt, but we don't want to spend the extra money. I think we're going to go with the Disney transfers, which leads me to another question: Because we arranged our own flight and are arriving so early, will we have to pick up our bags and haul them around until 9:00?

I believe you should just be able to put the tags on your bags that come with your documentation. Make sure you keep anything you might need in your carryons until your luggage arrives on the cruise ship. Someone correct me if I am wrong. - Mike
