CRO is only half right. There's no early "check-in" but you can "pre-check-in" early. We pulled up to the Poly just before 8 AM on January 1, 2003. We went through the check-in process, got our resort IDs, etc., left our luggage in the car and set off for EMH at MK. All we had to do was call the resort from the park in the afternoon and they'd give us our room number and automatically activate the resort IDs for that room.
Here's one other important thing to consider about wanting a room early... it may hinder the desireability of your room location. CMs tend to give guests the best available room within a category at check-in. If you want a room in the AM, you'd be limited to the "left over" rooms from the day before. That's a good way to get a dumpster view room or a room that's a long walk from everything. This isn't to say you'll get a "bad" room for sure, it just increases the odds. That's why we opted to wait for a room at the Poly. We asked the CM when the best time to call back for a room was for the best chance of a good view was and we went with his advice for around 3 PM.
