What is the earliest time you can check in on your arrival day at the resorts?

Or what time has been the earliest you've checked in?

I think the official time is around 1pm (is this right? I can't really remember) When we checked into POR last Sept. we arrived at 1030 am. We couldv'e either waited until 4pm for bld 14 (a faxed request) or immediately into bldg 24. We took immediately and grew to love 24 even though it was FAR from the main lobby/amenities.

The "official" check in time at most WDW Resorts is between 1-3PM. But, if you arrive earlier than that and your room is ready, you can check in to your room then. Hope this helps?

Oops... what I meant was if I arrive at 5 or 6 AM can we check in then (and hopefully get in our room if it is ready)?

Has anyone ever done this?

The earlist I've ever been able to check in is 6:30 am. We were changing resorts because we didn't like the original resort we were staying at and they had a room ready when we got there. It was great. We were prepared to have to wait all day.

Last year, we arrived at the GF at 8am and our room was ready. When we transferred to our next resort, the WL our room was ready at 9 am when we arrived. then we switched to the BWV, got there about 9 am and it was ready. The last was the AKL, arrived about 10 and it was ready as well. The year before though, we arrived about 1 pm at the WL, and did not get in until 4 pm.

In Oct. I checked in at the Poly at 6:30 am--we'd flown in the night before and stayed at POR to save $$. OUr Land/sea package started and I wanted to be sure to get full use of the UMPS, besides, I was too excited to sleep. Not only did we get our passes, but we were able to get into the room at that time.

I checked into CSR at 8:30am with 3 friends, we got 2 connecting rooms immediately. Great News! Got to the rooms - bad news! They were smoking! We were heading out to the parks so we called housekeeping and asked them to bring air cleaners. They brought one, which we switched between the rooms. Didn't help. We should have asked for a switch but didn't since we weren't in the rooms much.

Officially, you can check in at any resort at any time after 7 a.m. Moreover that often gets stretched to 6:30 as long as someone is behind the desk to take check-ins. What you may not get at check in is your room (which may not be avaialble until after 3 or 4 depending on resort) but you can leave luggage, get room keys and tickets and go to a park; later you just call the front desk and they tell you what room you have.

...if we are checking out of one Disney resort to another??? We will be staying at CBR and then switching to WL after 6 days.....

Thanks Drusba. That's what we were wondering. We'll be arriving a day early so we can get to WDW early to enjoy a FULL first day's pass on our land/sea package. We'll be staying offsite the first night, but plan on arriving at our resort (Port Orleans) as early as possible. We just assumed you could check your baggage, but it's nice to see confirmation. I'd rather not leave things in the car all day if I don't have to.

Kimmar067, you have two options. You can check out of one resort, take your luggage, get a cab and go to the next and follow regular check in (7 or after as noted above but sometimes someone is behind the dek earlier than that; but still may not get room until later), or, alternatively, give your luggage to CBR personnel, tell them you are switching to WL, and they will ship your luggage over to WL; meanwhile you can go to the parks for the day and then check in at WL later and your luggage will be there.

....if I do the 2nd option you suggested, I won't necessarily be assigned our 4 rooms (we requested adjoining rooms, or at least rooms that are near to each other...) I am wondering if I have to be there in person to actually have the rooms assigned, or will they automatically give me rooms if our luggage is there(I am not so concerned with getting into a room early, as much as getting my preference of room) and I would definitely want at least 2 connecting rooms, since 2 of my DS's will be in another room....

....:( to hopefully get a reply on previous post....

It would be a good idea to call CRO and have an early check-in request noted on your reservation.

In early Dec. '97, we checked in at 6:00 a.m. (we requested early check-in) and had no problem checking in. A lady checking in at the same time was told her room was not ready (and this was during a pretty slow time of year, Port Orleans).

thanks for the info. I don't think we will be checking THAT early but I will try your suggestion....

I would call the second resort 3 or 4 days before your transfer day and confirm your requests. Then get to the 2nd resort as early as you can on transfer day to get your new room keys (only the person who's name is on the reservation would have to do it). They will give you the room keys even if your rooms are not ready (they will not give you the room #'s until they are ready). That way they cannot switch the pre-assigned rooms around and "accidentally" give them to someone else. If you wait until later in the day to get the keys, there's the possibility that room switches will be done during the day and you could lose the pre-assigned rooms.

We just got back from the Poly and the day before we checked in I stopped at the front desk and was told I could check in as early as 4:00am - and would be given the room number as soon as the room was ready.

what you mentioned is EXACTLY what I am afraid would happen...Russ, thank you, also, for your reply.....

PS - one last ??:
I reserved 4 rooms but two members of my family aren't arriving at WDW until later that day from NJ(we will be coming from the CBR). Can I check in for my S-in-L too? (The ressies for all 4 rooms are under my name, although she is paying for her own room)

If you check everyone in your self all of the room keys will have your name on them. Also it is impossible/difficult/confusing to get the rooms billed separately after the fact. I believe you can let your S-I-L check her self in as long as you clear it with the CM when you check into the other rooms. She can then use her own credit card and have her name on the room key with charging privileges.
