Can anybody tell me the earliest check in time for RV's at the fort? We're do in tomorrow and making better time than we'd expected to.
I got this from one of the info sites I have bookmarked hope it helps.
We got there last year at 11 and they let us go right in. Have fun and enjoy!
Check in time is 1PM (check out is 11:00AM). If you arrive prior to 1PM and you site is not ready, you can still get your resort ID's and enjoy the campground. There is a very large parking lot at the reception outpost, so you can stash the camper there and check out the pool or other activities. If you want, you can go to a park and make a day of it. When you return, get your site assignment and set up camp
I basically have the same info as everyone else. You can check in whenever your site is ready......
This is not correct.
The drive through Plaza for check-in is manned at 8:00AM for check-in. The Outpost is open 24/7 for inside check-in. Technically, campsites are supposed to be ready for occupancy at 1:00PM but you can check-in earlier than that time even if your site is not ready.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we checked-in at 4:00AM once and they allowed us to go to a site that was open. I do not know if that site was the one that would have been assigned to us had we checked-in later in the day, like the 7:35AM we usually get there.
Our usual arrival time at FW is 7:35AM.
The earliest we got there was 4:00AM when we had to evacuate due to an approaching hurricane. Called FW and told them about our problem and they said drive carefully and see you soon.
First off you CAN check in whenever your site is ready so my statement was not incorrect. Your statement, while obviously not incorrect because you did it, would be much more dependant on how full the fort was. If there are no open sites, there will be nowhere for you to go. Although the original question was the " Earliest time " I was trying to answer more about any day, any time of year, or whatever type of rig/rig requirements that someone might have.My understanding is that this is a very busy time at the fort and availability may not be there at any time you arrive.
Due to your circumstances, they may have gone beyond what would normally be acceptable and may not be something you could count on because you made better time than you thought you would. I could be wrong but, I have never tried it, so I can't say for sure. I do know that we have never been allowed to go to a site until it was cleared through Mousekeeping.
In the future I will try to mention in the post that my response is based on what I have found to be true but, other options could be available exceeding my information...

Since 1979, we just considered "check-in" to mean when paper work is done whether we got site, cabin or room.
