Can anybody tell me the earliest check in time for RV's at the fort? We're do in tomorrow and making better time than we'd expected to.

When you arrive...go ahead and check in. If a site is not ready yet they will instruct you to pull into the overflow lot with your RV. Depending on how early you are it could take several hours for a site to become available. This could be a good time to tour the campground...grab a bite to eat, or maybe hit DTD. I believe they give you a phone number to call and check for your site number. Arriving early is not a problem....however dont arrive 24 hrs early!:lmao:

I got this from one of the info sites I have bookmarked hope it helps.

We got there last year at 11 and they let us go right in. Have fun and enjoy!

Check in time is 1PM (check out is 11:00AM). If you arrive prior to 1PM and you site is not ready, you can still get your resort ID's and enjoy the campground. There is a very large parking lot at the reception outpost, so you can stash the camper there and check out the pool or other activities. If you want, you can go to a park and make a day of it. When you return, get your site assignment and set up camp

This time we got to check in at noon, checked in and CM hostess said our site wasn't ready, but if we wanted we could go ahead and set-up. I said fine I can hose it down and the sand doesn't need sweeping. We were set-up and on our way the SOG for our tickets by 1pm.

Our usual arrival time at FW is 7:35AM.

The earliest we got there was 4:00AM when we had to evacuate due to an approaching hurricane. Called FW and told them about our problem and they said drive carefully and see you soon.

Last year got to check in at 8:30 am ... but site wasn't the loop we had reqested. Next time we'll wait a little longer for a a better loop. 1900 was disappointing.

I basically have the same info as everyone else. You can check in whenever your site is ready. We have gotten in as soon as we pulled up ( around 10am ), and have had to wait until 1:00pm to get in. Living so close and knowing that lunchtime traffic can get bad in Orlando, we try to leave the house by 8-9 am to pull in between 10:30 and 11:30. If nothing is ready we can unload the Golf cart and explore, that is better than sitting at the house chomping at the bit.

This is not correct.

The drive through Plaza for check-in is manned at 8:00AM for check-in. The Outpost is open 24/7 for inside check-in. Technically, campsites are supposed to be ready for occupancy at 1:00PM but you can check-in earlier than that time even if your site is not ready.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we checked-in at 4:00AM once and they allowed us to go to a site that was open. I do not know if that site was the one that would have been assigned to us had we checked-in later in the day, like the 7:35AM we usually get there.

First off you CAN check in whenever your site is ready so my statement was not incorrect. Your statement, while obviously not incorrect because you did it, would be much more dependant on how full the fort was. If there are no open sites, there will be nowhere for you to go. Although the original question was the " Earliest time " I was trying to answer more about any day, any time of year, or whatever type of rig/rig requirements that someone might have.My understanding is that this is a very busy time at the fort and availability may not be there at any time you arrive.

Due to your circumstances, they may have gone beyond what would normally be acceptable and may not be something you could count on because you made better time than you thought you would. I could be wrong but, I have never tried it, so I can't say for sure. I do know that we have never been allowed to go to a site until it was cleared through Mousekeeping.

In the future I will try to mention in the post that my response is based on what I have found to be true but, other options could be available exceeding my information...

Mea culpa.....I should have written that your response was not totally correct. You may check-in even when your site is not ready. The CM will just have you go to the overflow lot to park and you will have to call to find out what site you have when it becomes available.

I also relate checking in, to getting your site even though they can be seperate events. It is also possible that I overreacted to a comment only meant to provide additional useful info and may not have been based around dismissing mine.:goodvibes

If you havn't made it yet, I hope you get your site upon arrival without having to wait..:hourglass

Truce:thumbsup2

Since 1979, we just considered "check-in" to mean when paper work is done whether we got site, cabin or room.
