I have been reading about how everyone loves Earl of Sandwich, and didn't really get it as we have one about 2-3 miles from us. I think it is good, but I didn't see the point of going to WDW just to eat somewhere I could eat at home (one of my vacation rules!). Somehow I ended up on Wikipedia tonight and found this info...

[edit] Earl of Sandwich
Earl of Sandwich is a restaurant franchise based in Orlando, Florida, United States. It was founded by the current Earl of Sandwich, his younger son Orlando Montagu, and businessman Robert Earl, founder of the Planet Hollywood chain. Earl of Sandwich is actually the brainchild of Orlando, who is second in line behind his brother Luke Timothy Charles Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke to the title of Earl of Sandwich. He and his father are direct descendants of the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who popularized the sandwich in Great Britain in the 18th century. The first restaurant was opened on March 19, 2004, located in Downtown Disney Marketplace on the property of Walt Disney World Resort outside of Orlando, Florida. Earl of Sandwich currently has franchising plans for all over the United States and the United Kingdom, including the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first Earl of Sandwich franchise is open in Sugar Land, Texas, and is owned by Nolan Ryan and Roger Clements.[1]

I did look it up and found that there are currently about 8 more locations.

I know...not really totally "Disney Dining" but it did answer my questions!

I know what you mean! I have those "vacation rules" for Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. I refuse to go there because I can go there locally. However, I make the exception for Wolfgang Puck's, because I know there is one not far from here. I think the closest Earl of Sandwich to my location is in Indiana. Not exactly a stone's throw from me.

Im sure somewhere in the shop area when it first opened though you could buy a postcard with the history of Earl of Sandwich and it said it started in London cause me and my Mum spent ages trying to work out if we had ever seen one anywhere in the UK
